Weapons of Reason illustrations on D&AD
Last week D&AD selected a series of WoR illustrations to spotlight on their blog. Each visual artist – Aaron Nelson, Adrian Johnson, Anna Dunn, Eve Lloyd Knight, Cajsa Holgersson and Jean Jullien – took a moment to reflect on their work and how they tackled their Arctic briefs.
Recent graduate Aaron Nelson, who joined us for most intense period of the magazine's publishing schedule, created an Arctic city accessible only by air to accompany Anubha Momin's postcard from Iqaluit:
My brief was to capture the vibrant city of Iqaluit. One of Canada's smallest cities, Iqaluit's population is constantly rising with a diverse mix of inhabitants .
I was inspired by some of the city's unique architecture designed at the time for functionality, the ability to withstand climate conditions and cut material costs. It allowed me to replicate a number of the distinctive buildings that are located in and around the city of Iqaluit.
