I'm not sure if the fact that Nancy has to call to wake Burrows up is absolutely adorable or absolutely pathetic.
"Two minutes for being a general nuisance for Alexandre Burrows."
I like how, during the Canadian anthem for the first game of the 2011 playoffs, the camera stays on Burr for a while like they knew he'd do something special this series.
Sorry, I have a compulsion to angrily defend my boys when I see people questioning them so skeptically. Sorry Burr's a pesky, gritty player and not a first round draft pick, but that annoying undrafted Ball Hockey Hall of Famer you don't like deserves to be there. He might bite and pull hair, but he works his heart out and he doesn't purposefully throw elbows into other players' heads, so I'll take him on my team over most other players any day of the week.
If you have to ask "is Burrows going to contribute anything [to Team Canada]," you don't know Alex Burrows. I can damn near guarantee you he'll be the hardest working player on the ice because he wants it the most of any player out there. He's the most thrilled to be there. By all normal circumstances, he shouldn't even be there, he shouldn't be in the NHL, he shouldn't be playing hockey. He worked his ass off to be the best ball hockey player he could, made it into the Ball Hockey Hall of Fame, worked his ass off when given a chance with the Manitoba Moose, earned a spot on the Vancouver Canucks, killed himself to become the best player he could and now he plays on one of the best lines in the hockey world. The Hockey News ranked him the 12th best right wing in the NHL this year. You don't get from barely scrapping by playing ball hockey to the 12th best right winger in the top ice hockey league in the world without being able to contribute. Alex Burrows isn't playing for Team Canada by accident. You may not like him, but he earned the spot on our national team and he does deserve it.
ALEX BURROWS! 1-0 VANCOUVER!
