The relationship started during the Canucks Christmas party where Quinn didn't seem all that eager to be present but for him when he was introduced to a friend of a friend who had got her in the party.
Quinn was admittedly hesitant until he suddenly wasn't. Y/n had softened the hard exterior and he went from nonchalant and calm to obsessive and utterly lovestruck.
Ellen had heard no end of Quinn's thoughts about the young woman in the first month of them dating, and she'd told him to just treat her how his instinct was pushing him to do so. If she didn't appreciate it then she'd be sure to let him know soon enough in whatever means suited her.
Jack and Luke also got pretty sick of hearing Quinn constantly talk about how y/n was the cutest or how she knocked the air out of his lungs with how effortlessly gorgeous she was. It was great he'd found a woman he liked so much but they were quickly getting bored of hearing about her when he seemed to be holding back.
So with encouragement from all directions, even his teammates who were growing bored of Quinn ignoring them whenever he had the chance in favour of messaging or calling y/n, sometimes even when she wasn't really in a position to message or take the call.
Thankfully y/n took Quinn's needy, clinginess in her stride and only felt flattered by how badly he seemed to need and want her with him always.
"I hate roadies." Quinn grumbles as he remains with y/n's leg resting over his shoulder with his cheek on her inner thigh while he looks up at her with the biggest, shiniest eyes he can muster. As if y/n is capable of keeping him there with a snap of her fingers, just because.
"You always say that." Y/n laughs lightly while pushing his hair back. "But I don't think you'll be giving up the hockey career quite yet just because you hate roadies-and Jack told me you never used to hate them this much."
"I'm not sorry for having a girlfriend that I want to spend time with." Quinn shrugs still looking up at her with those big adoring eyes.
Y/n isn't a fool or blind, she knows that Quinn loves her with his heart and soul. It may not be modest or humble to admit it but Quinn makes it impossible to deny so she doesn't bother.
"I miss you when I'm gone." Quinn mumbles then turning his head to kiss her thigh while y/n smiles.
"I miss you too. Which seems shocking with how much you call. It's like you're right here with me most of the time." Y/n hums though this is a 4 game roadie and so far the longest that y/n and Quinn will have been together throughout. So she understands why he's so unhappy.
Uncharted territory is always a little difficult to deal with especially when for Quinn these trips are normal but one so long without y/n there is just a hard pill to swallow.
"I love you." Quinn sighs earning a hum.
"I'm only a call away."
"I want you there with me."
"Just think about how great it will feel when you get back."
Quinn sighs knowing that's a good point to make but it's not one that brings him much joy to think about. He'll only be happy because he's back and that's days away and he has to leave first.
Initially y/n and Quinn had thought to keep the relationship entirely out of everyone's knowledge, but in all honesty. Quinn just couldn't, any home game he has, he wants her there in the front row where he can see even if tis just a glance from the bench or when he's on ice. Split seconds of distraction that thankfully haven't damaged his performances in games.
"Huggy." Y/n smiles pulling out the nickname that Quinn has grown use to from his teammates and fans once it was made public but only with y/n does he melt at it. "You're going to be late for your flight. I'll drive you if you agree to go without a fight."
Quinn chuckles a little knowing y/n hates driving, and by saying she'll drive, she means he can drive and she'll make sure his car gets back to his place.
"Fine."

Quinn might've had to leave Vancouver but he wasn't going to leave y/n without constant reminders of him. As if her apartment-sitting for him wasn't enough. He'd maybe got plants to fill the space just so he had reason to ask for her to stay there while he's gone.
Y/n enjoyed it. She liked how he'd purposely sprayed his cologne on her pillow right before he left, really thinking she didn't notice.
But her surprise comes when she's making herself something to eat and there's a loud knock at the door.
"Coming! Just one second." Y/n calls rushing to the door, admittedly not really looking at her best in stolen clothes from Quinn of a t-shirt and sweatpants. It's cold today and even with the heat on, a chill is getting into the apartment.
She pulls the door open almost jumping at a large bouquet held there with the delivery man entirely hidden aside from his legs beneath the huge mass of flowers.
"Y/n?" The delivery man's voice questions.
"That's me."
"These are for you. Do you want me to bring them in?"
"Oh uh, I've got them. Thank you." Y/n smiles hugging around the large bouquet to take them before grunting as she takes the weight of the flowers, not quite expecting them to be so heavy. "Wait there, I'll just find a place to put them."
Y/n opts to place them near the living room window on the floor before she rushes to give him a tip with another thank you before he takes off.
Y/n doesn't have to guess who the flowers are from, though this is the first time on a roadie that he's made such a grand gesture. She spots the note among the flower heads and smiles to herself as she unfold it.
7 days is too long. Call me when you get these. I need to hear your voice.
Huggy xx
Y/n laughs a little then pouting as her emotions get the better of her while it sinks in just how amazing of a man Quinn is.
By the time she calls him, he's clearly aware of the fact the flowers were delivered since he picks up on the first ring, presumably having been waiting.
"Hey, Huggy. You are very sweet." Y/n smiles watching her face turn a little pink at her words. "Thank you, the flowers are beautiful and the note made me cry."
"It wasn't meant to make you cry." Quinn laughs before sighing. "I miss you, it's so boring to be without you."
"It's been less than a day."
"Are you wearing my clothes?" Quinn asks making her smile lightly.
"You know I am." Y/n mumbles before she sighs softly. "Anyway, you can't leave all these clothes here and no expect me to wear them. You somehow have the softest t-shirts and sweatpants. Even if they make me look like a complete slob."
"You don't look like a slob. You look amazing. As always."
Y/n and Quinn end up talking for hours until y/n eventually falls asleep and Quinn's sits watching her till he follows suit.
And so the roadie goes on, daily arrival of flowers with a sappy note and count down till he's home, calls between travel, practices and games. Quinn is focused on the task in hand of winning games, not that they are always on top of that, but even his teammates notice his mood getting sour the longer they were away from home.
But finally the last game came and went, Quinn took them to victory with 2 goal and an assist. In the end they won 5-3.
Y/n was waiting for Quinn on the tarmac like she'd been unmoved from that spot since she dropped him off.
Quinn ditches his bag on the tarmac in favour of jogging towards y/n and scooping her up in a hug and kiss which earns cheeks and mocking "ooooh"s from the teammates as they laugh.
"That was such a horrible week."
"I think you saw me more in the past week than you do at him games." An exaggeration if there ever was one. But Quinn just smiles kissing her again, too happy to be in her physical presence to care.
"Can we go home? I just want to be with you." Quinn mumbles knowing none of his teammates can hear him but they don't need to in order to be able know exactly what he wants.
"Of course we can...You can drive."

Quinn is cuddling y/n tightly as they lie on the sofa watching the new Frankenstein movie (literally watching this as I write, inspo from real life anyone?), or y/n is. Quinn can't take his eyes off the young woman and she feels it but she lets him stare as long as he likes.
Her face feels hot under his gaze but she focused on the movie, though her gaze does flicker to the flowers filling the room since the first bouquet was the smallest of what she received.
"I think you are the most special person." Y/n states finally breaking the silence.
"I don't know how I lived before you were in my life." Quinn states feeling like he has to say it because the thought has been hanging heavily on his chest, just on the tip of his tongue as he waited for her to say something first.
"Huggy..." Y/n laughs lightly mussing his hair a little before she is caught in a kiss that Quinn puts all his need for her into.
"I hate that I have to leave you again for the game after the next." Quinn groans breaking the kiss.
"How about I make you a promise?" Y/n asks earning lightened eyes of curiosity. "If you promise to always come back to me, I promise to always be here waiting for you."
Quinn shifts squeezing his arms around her as if that is a promise he is more than willing to agree to.
Hockey is a dangerous sport and admittedly Quinn takes a lot of hits. But even if he didn't there's risk just playing a came, stray pucks, high sticks, blades of skate cutting limbs or even a players throat in the worst cases.
"I promise to always come back to you." Quinn mumbles against her skin.
"I promise to always be here waiting for you." Y/n smiles before she wraps her arms around him, squeezing him back just as hard. "You know, there's millions of women who would kill to be in a relationship with someone who treats me the way you treat me."
"You deserve it all, baby." Quinn states not having an ounce of doubt in his words.
