On a road trip through East Germany (the former German Democratic Republic) I came across this abandoned site, consisting of several warehouses. The whole place was utterly trashed and full of ugly graffiti tags. What looked promising from the outside, turned out to be quite a disappointment on the inside. But then in one smaller annex to one of the warehouses, I stumbled upon this magnificent old hearse. Unlike the rest of the buildings, this piece was still untouched by vandals. As to why anyone would store this beautiful carriage in an abandoned warehouse, I have no idea… But isn’t she a beauty though?

Luoghi abbandonati, ecomostri, storie difficili, luoghi complicati, la mia visione dell'essere stato e del divenire altro per la non curanza e la cattiveria dell'uomo, benché tutto ciò abbia un fascino indiscutibile. La presenza dell'uomo fondamentale, sia come ricordo che come racconto del tempo che passa su queste mura, più passa il tempo e più diventano fatiscenti ma al tempo stesso raccolgono e raccontano il fascino della distruzione all'unisono.
