ESPRESSO COFFEE
If you crave a rich, intense coffee taste in thick liquid form, espresso is probably the coffee drink you want.
An espresso is not just an extremely concentrated shot of coffee, it is also a brewing method and the basis for many other coffee drinks including cappuccinos, macchiatos, lattes, and americanos.
Espresso is usually made in an espresso machine or a stove-top espresso pot. Hot water is forced through coffee grounds at high pressure resulting in a strong coffee drink that actually has about half the caffeine of a drip brewed coffee. It is also known for keeping more of the coffee’s essential oils and for its fine crema.
ESPRESSO HISTORY
The history of espresso starts in 1884 when Italian Angelo Moriondo invented a bulk brewer that pushed pressurised steam and water through coffee. In 1901, Italian Luigi Bezzera improved upon the machine and in 1905, the La Pavoni company began to produce machines which could now be used for single servings.
Because the machine is so bulky, and was not available for home use until the 1970s, espressos are mainly associated with coffee houses. However, as machines have become smaller, more espresso enthusiasts are pulling the shots at home.
ESPRESSO THE NESCAFÉ WAY
You don’t need a big bulky machine to make an espresso. There is an easier, faster way – one that gives you the intense coffee flavour you love without any hassle. It is NESCAFÉ Espresso - made from 100% Arabica beans.
We wash and fully roast the finest quality beans to achieve the rich, intense taste needed for this classic type of coffee. A short but deeply satisfying cup with a velvety golden-brown crema layer – enjoy!
