I have a pilonidal abscess, which is hell. It hurts super bad, but the part that sucks is this is the third time I've gotten it so I have to get surgery to have it removed but I had to be referred to a surgeon and my COnsuLtaIoN is in a week. I've had my ABCSESS for almost a week now. Its gonna be over TWO WEEKS before it's gone
Whenever I have to drain an abscess on a patient while they sit there and tell the doctor that they don't understand why it's not healing, but then say how they keep injecting their meth and heroin into that site, I just continue to stare at the massive, infected, leaking hole in their body and try to wrap my head around their logic and thought process.
And then I'm snapped back to reality as my stomach turns while I see a pool of some milky liquid coming in and out of the wound each time I press the bacitracin onto their skin and I just have to mentally block that out and go back to thinking of literally anything else.
Juniper let me hold her today! For like, hours. She boggled even! It makes me so happy I'm not even upset that I didn't get anything done because I didn't want to put her down, or even move. Even after she had enough of being petted she still curled up to me and leached off my body heat. Such a happy rat mother today. Hazel was continuously trying to make her way under the TV stand. Juniper has three active abcsess now, and so far three have popped. Two under her right arm, and another has formed there. There is one behind her left ear that popped. She has a large one under her left arm too. Tomorrow I think I will shave around them so when they pop the fur won't get all matted and it will reduce the chance of infection.

Another cyst is slowly getting infected internally. I hope it's not the kind that will require me taking antibiotics but it feels like it... I need to find a way to aggravate it so I have control on at least lancing it!
Just found an abscess on my cat, Sophie. The abscess is draining and I can't take her to a vet until Monday. Now I know why she hasn't been herself all week. I just thought it was the weather. I'm a bad cat mommy for not catching it sooner :(
