“our son called,” mumbled abel after he had wrapped his arms around his wife from behind. it felt like it had been ages since they had a chance to even talk. he had been kept quite busy thanks to his business. he knew that she had also been occupied with her own work. it still amused him that they practically played on opposite sides of the board. he still didn’t understand how their life had turned out the way it had,” apparently his wife and him have something to tell us but they want us to come over for dinner.” he had the faintest idea that he knew what it was but he wasn’t about to voice it,” i asked him if the whole family was invited but it seems that he’s still holding a grudge against our other idiot child.”

   abel had no clue if what he was doing was a good idea. he and violet hadn't exactly discussed getting a pet. the moment his eyes had landed on the mutt, he was sold. he was no qualms about paying the adoption fee. plus he knew he needed a distraction around the house. it was the calm before the storm which was unnerving. he was standing in the kitchen with the puppy in his arms. one of his hands reaching to allow it to nibble at the tips of his fingers. his head lifted when he heard the footsteps and he took a breath," i'll train him and all that," he told her before she could speak," and i need something to keep my mind off our idiot children." he motioned towards the stairs before looking back at her," something is going on with gabriel and lincoln has been bringing a girl around which he thinks i don't know."

     "Why are you licking me?" asked Abel, his head tilting down towards the puppy currently cradled in his arms. It had been a few weeks since the incident that had occured between him and his son. He knew that he had frightened Violet but he was trying his hardest to be alright again. What he was doing at that moment was trying to buy their daughter a birthday present. He had no idea why he had decided to get such a gift. He hadn't allowed animals in their home growing up. His head turned to look towards Violet," Am I crazy for buying her for this?" He was trying his hardest to make sure that he was involved with his family. After all he had messed up quite a bit over the many months. The only person he seemed to not messed things up with was Violet.

   Abel couldn't stop staring down at his hands. It felt like it had been a lifetime since his knuckles looked like they did. All he could keep thinking about was what he had done. How badly he had fucked up! He couldn't help but think that he had done something that his own father would have done. How could he have lost control? He had snapped out of it only to realize what he had done. How badly he had beaten his own son. He knew that Violet was bound to freak out. He had made sure that Gabriel got medical attention. He had done so by calling Eleanor and insisting she take her brother to the hospital. After that he had holed himself up on the balcony that was on the second floor. He had slammed the doors shut and made himself a spot in the very corner. His frame was hunched and he was unable to stop himself from staring at the blood. His entire frame was shaking and he didn't even realize that tears were falling down his face. He was almost certain that the living room was a mess due to that had been where the fight had taken place. He didn't even hear the sound of the front door opening or closing. He certainly didn't hear Violet calling out for him with a panic to her voice. Of course he didn't want her to find him and he couldn't even bring himself to look up when the doors opened.

“so were you going to tell me that he’s back?” asked abel the moment he stepped into his wife’s office. he had been pacing back and forth for a good forty five minutes before he decided to hell with it. normally he wouldn’t dare step into his wife’s place of work. after all it was dangerous for a man in his line of work. he went to slam the door shut and leaned against it,” that smug bastard decided to show his damn face and i swear to god violet, i nearly bashed his head in.” that image had played over and over in his head. the last thing he wanted was for eleanor to get all messed up again.

“controlling?” said abel through gritted teeth, unsure how to process what violet had just uttered. the last thing that he ever imagined was that she would accuse him of such a thing. mostly because he wanted to avoid being accused of such a thing. he didn’t understand why she was saying such a thing given their circumstances. the fact that she was pregnant and some asshole had been trying to talk with her. he took a few steps towards her but didn’t loom over her,” he was trying to hit on you right in front of me and you’re pregnant with my child.” his hands reached to cup her face, unsure what more he could say,” and the last thing i’m going to allow is you to be in some kind of uncomfortable situation when i can prevent it and who the fuck does he think he is? hitting on you when you are pregnant?”

    abel was grinning like a cheshire cat. it had been ages since he was actually home at a decent hour. things had been chaotic for him lately. finally it seemed like he was calm. he had opted to take advantage of that fact. he was going to stand behind his wife, his hands grasping at her hips," what would you say to a night out? away from this house and our children?" he knew that violet might say no but he hoped she wouldn't. they hadn't had a night to themselves in what felt like forever. his hands were reaching to turn her to face him and he went to press his lips to hers for only a brief moment," i got us a suite and made reservations at that italian restaurant you like." @leaahwrites​
