Normally, Beth heavily disliked the divine. Anything that had to do with divinity and God and what not, Beth actively shunned and it left a rather bitter taster in her palate.
The divine were nothing but pompous insects with fluffy wings that believed they were high and mighty and above everyone else, yadda yadda. Murderers masked with golden colors of ‘righteousness and justice’ that slaughtered her kind without mercy, leaving her heart feeling heavy with oozing resentment and bitterness.
Whenever the bleeding heart of a princess scheduled a collaboration between Heaven and Hell with the holy gates’ seraphim, Bethanne couldn’t help but overseer. Judgement clouded any hopes in believing in Emily, unfortunately — what with her baby blues, soft fashion, always giggly and bouncy…she was like another version of Charlie. It was strange — a mirror displaying reflections of one another born to separate, unrelenting worlds. It was none of Bethanne’s business anyhow, so the nosferatu simply watched from afar and soaked up any passing conversation from the shadows. You never know when you could use juicy gossip as a form of blackmail.
But one divine being in particular caught her attention the most — and he seemed to be the runt of the bunch considering the grapevine’s information. Pushed to be the next in line to take over the dreaded exorcists yet not taken seriously at all in the slightest, the lieutenant treating him like absolute garbage, even his physique made him a dead target for ridicule. He looked like a soft and squishy little teddy bear, how could this pipsqueak be fit to take over his once tyrannical father’s reign? He’d sooner be eaten alive as the weakest of the family. That was survival of the fittest, natural selection — dead or alive, the weakest are always weeded out and killed out of some self-fulfilling prophecy of another who believes they’re doing the world a charity.
And she loathed that she pitied a divine. Someone who would kill her in a heartbeat given the chance.
“ Keep looking like a lost puppy and Hell will not be the only place that devours you where you cower, leetle canary. “
Beth finally spoke up when Abel was alone, the nosferatu in heavy plates attempting to tower over and intimidate him. Necrotic eyes narrow into judging slits, her lip twisting upwards in a snarl.
“ You commonly visit here with your seraphim thing yet you lack the confidence to do much but tag along like her shadow. Are you not the new leader? Where is your gusto, you weak thing? “
He was almost a walking insult to her. She was a war general herself.
