The EU canbe a bit overwhelming but don’t let it scare you lol my advice is: start withwhat you love. Sadly there isn’t any book that’s all about Anakin and Padmétogether but if you’re looking for their stuff I’d recommend:

Hi there! Can you help me understand whats going on in OUAT? I am italian but i watch OUAT in english and it's a bit tricky sometimes . At the moment, I didnt get the agreement between hook and gold. What is gold plan? What does Hook have to do? Why everybody in Tumblr is writing that he is betraying Emma? Please make me understand what in earth is going on! Thanks!!

basically, gold's plan is to leave storybrooke with belle and henry, and take over the world. but to do that, he needs to free himself from his dark one dagger so that it no longer holds power over him. once he does that, he will be able to leave the town but still keep his magic. in order to free himself from the dagger, he needs to collect magic in the sorcerer's hat, and he also needs the heart of someone who knew him before he became the dark one (and the only person who fits that criteria and is still alive is hook, that's why he took hook's heart). but before gold crushes hook's heart, he's using hook to help him collect the magic he needs in the hat (that's why last week hook had to suck all those fairies into the hat). once hook collects all the magic the hat needs, gold plans to kill hook. it's not really an agreement at all, gold is controlling hook against his wishes.
the reason why some people are saying hook is betraying emma is probably because he told her he's changed and become a better man, yet here he is, doing horrible things and lying to emma. however i don't agree with this because none of this is hook's doing. he doesn't want to be doing villainous things, but he doesn't have a choice because gold has his heart and is able to control him. he also promised emma that he was good at surviving and will never leave her side but he feels like he's going to have to break his promise because he believes that gold is going to kill him, and he will just be another person that has let emma down.
