Who was your muse’s first kiss?

     Carmen Maraschino. She lived down the block from Valentine when he lived in Melrose Park.  He was 11 and she was 12, it happened when they were with a group of friends seeing Who Framed Roger Rabbit at the neighborhood theater. The kiss never led to anything, but it was a major source of pride that he rode out through the remainder of his adolescence. She was, in his opinion, the prettiest girl in all of Chicago.

     “That’s what does it for you, huh?” He laughs, and delicately cradles her face in his large hands. Valentine leans in close, intimate. He smiles. “Amore. Vita mia. how old was renata when she had her first child?

renata was FIFTEEN ,  a freshman in high school .   the news came as a shock to her ,  considering the boy used protection ;  however ,  she wasn’t on the pill ,  and the idea of getting rid of a harmless baby was unbearable to her .   so she went through with the pregnancy ,  receiving stares in the halls and snide remarks from people .
