IRISH BLESSING OILS

The tradition of anointing with sacred oil is very old indeed. It is used in sacraments and also as a devotional practice. The sick person is invited to apply oil on the part of their body they want healed but as they do so, they are asked to pray to whomever the oil is dedicated to. The oil itself does not have miraculous power. It is God who has the power to heal. Prayer and a gesture of faith, like applying the oil, are important ways for us to express our faith in God’s power.

St Gemma Galgani Story And Miracles

This inspiration and prayer written by Maria Antoine is in honour of the Italian mystic and saint who died of tuberculosis in 1903 at age 25. Gemma was granted the grace of receiving the wounds of Christ., the stigmata. She endured everything with love and endurance. After her death there were many miracles attributed to her intercession.

Blessed John Licci Story And Miracles

This narration is written by Maria Antoine and narrated by Douglas Haines. It is a celebration of the 15th century Dominican who is patron for head injuries. Blessed John lived for 111 years and his life was filled with miracles, even as a baby. During his life three men were healed of serious head injuries, hence his patronage. We try in this short account of his life to honour God’s grace working through him.
