I wrote a thing, it’s silly and it’s weird and it’s all yours. Love you!
Birthday Celebration
Summary: Randall and Matthew are almost late to the party!
Matthew looked at the calendar as he laid on the bed with his head on Randall’s lap and let out a curse. He dug an elbow into Randall’s side.
“Fuck, what is it?” Randall asked, rubbing the bruise with a scowl.
Matthew pointed at the calendar. “Look what day it is.”
Putting down his book and turning to the calendar, he tilted his head and then gasped in horror. “We forgot! Shit!”
“Shit is right,” Matthew said, standing up and searching the room for a pair of pants and a shirt that wasn’t too stained. “If we hurry, we can catch up to them.”
“What if we’re too late?” Randall placed his book on the nightstand and hopped out of bed, running a hand through his hair with a sigh.
Matthew snorted. “If we’re too late, they will find us, they will try to murder us, and then we will kill them and be without friends, again.” He threw Randall’s pants at him. “Move.”
They dressed in a hurry, the clock ticking away their precious time. Matthew grabbed Randall’s keys and rushed outside, starting the car while Randall finished wrestling his hair back under control.
//Why are you putting so much effort into this?//
//They have been the first friends in this messed up city that didn’t run from you or Matthew’s tendencies. So hush.//
The Beast grumbled but settled back down, his nap time now put on hold while Randall raced outside and slid into the passenger's seat. “Alright, check your messages. Does it say where they are?”
Pulling out his phone, Matthew tossed it to Randall. “You check it, I’m driving.”
Randall scanned the posts and messages. “Hah! Got ‘em!”
“Fuck!” Matthew shouted, swerving back into his lane. “Warn a guy before you yell in his ear.”
“Sorry, sorry.” Randall wiggled the phone and grinned. “They’re at Howl at the Moon and they just arrived by the look of it. Hurry!”
“I’m going as fast as I can,” Matthew said with a growl. “We won’t make it at all if we get pulled over for speeding.”
Chuckling at the blanket irritation from Matthew’s side of the bond, Randall settled into his seat and kept an eye on the phone, in case something changed.
They reached Howl at the Moon, a name that caused The Beast no end of amusement, and entered the crowded bar in a rush and out of breath. Randall scanned the crowd, crossing his fingers and hoping and giving a shout of celebration as he spotted their friends in the back.
“There!” Matthew yelled, pointing to the far corner at the same time as Randall.
Randall grabbed him and pulled him in for a brief kiss, causing a few people around them to hoot and holler. Matthew grinned at the attention and pulled Randall through the mass of people until they arrived at the back table.
“Oh, you guys made it!” Two women stood up from the table and raced over, enveloping Randall and Matthew in a group hug while The Beast grumbled.
//”Unhand me at once.”// The Beast growled and the women giggled.
“Oh calm down, tough guy,” one of them said with a clap to Randall’s back. “It’s our birthday and we can do what we want.”
And that includes making you behave. Matthew glared at his mate until The Beast backed down and Randall regained control.
“Thanks babe,” he said with a smile, giving Matthew a kiss on the cheek.
“Oh you two are too cute,” the taller woman said, pulling them to the table. “Let’s get a few drinks in you and then I demand dancing.”
Randall groaned and Matthew threw his head back laughing.
“You said we needed friends,” Matthew said with a smirk. “This is part of it. Now chug your beer like a good mate and go shake your ass for me.”
“You know, I could put you over my knee right here,” Randall said, his voice dipping lower and his eyes blazing.
The two women clapped and one of them pulled out her phone. “Yes, do that. I need new material.”
Growling back at Randall, Matthew picked up the beer set in front of him and held it up to the giggling duo.
“To the birthday girls!” This grabbed everyone’s attention and the whole bar cheered.
The women stood and bowed and waved and Randall leaned close to Matthew.
“Good call, get them drunk enough and they won’t remember whether we danced or not.” Giving his smirking mate a kiss, he waved a passing waiter down. “We need at least two more rounds and I .”
The waiter rolled his eyes, but nodded and walked off. Matthew stood up and wrapped his arms around Randall’s neck, leaning close to his ear.
“I still wanna see you dance,” Matthew whispered. He licked the spot behind Randall’s ear that made him shiver.
Randall shook his head, but smiled and picked up his beer. “Then I better start drinking, huh?”
******************
“Randall, no, get off the stage.” Matthew pulled at his shirt. “Vic, a little help here?”
He looked over to see both of the birthday women with their arms thrown around each other, swaying back and forth to the music. He shook his head and pulled harder on Randall’s arm.
“Please babe, I said dance, not sing. I’ve heard you sing. It’s not appropriate in public.”
Randall giggled and tipped forward, Matthew catching him as he fell off the stage. Throwing his arms around Matthew, Randall swayed to the music and buried his face in Matthew’s neck. This elicited more excited clapping from Vic and Dev and Matthew sighed as Vic pulled her phone out and tried to take a photo. The fact that she couldn’t stand still didn’t seem to deter her in the slightest.
“We need grinding action,” Dev called out.
“I need to get him home before I have a drunk and pissy Beast on my hands.” Wriggling Randall around until he was sufficiently resting against Matthew’s side, he walked off the dance floor and towards the two drunk women.
“Happy Birthday, both of you,” Matthew said with a kiss to each of their cheeks. “Jack picking you up?”
“Yeah, we already called.” Dev wrapped everyone in another hug, giving Randall’s forehead a kiss. “Get the lightweight home.”
He smiled as Vic leaned against Dev, a new drink in her hand. “Maybe that’s enough, huh?”
“Fuck off, it’s my birthday.” She took a defiant sip and then wrinkled her nose. “I don’t think this is mine.”
“Am I getting a spanking now?” Randall asked as the music died down.
Matthew groaned and dragged him out of the bar to copious amounts of laughter.
