other fucked up amatonormative thing is like. almost all of the songs that are like "you treated me wrong in this sexual relationship" are at least partially from the lens of "because you wouldn't make us official," which for the ones that include other shitty behavior is then drawing a connection between disregarding your boundaries & not dating you.

which has been very frustrating for me because it's like oh my god i had literally zero desire to date 🎠 i just wanted a sexual relationship where she didn't treat me like shit offstage. or yk where there was an offstage.

& on the flip side there's also very little representation of the like genuine care & affection & love i feel for my sexual partners that isn't coming from a romantic lens. ("honey" by troye sivan is a hymn to me, & it gives me soo much perverse pleasure that he built the chorus from the serenity prayer. gives me fucking chills.)

additional amatonormative music pet peeve: when songs like "i love being promiscuous you can't tie me down" then have a bridge that's like well maybe if you were *really* special i'd change my mind. like that shit's only cool if you're lying to them rn, otherwise shut up you're harshing my slut vibe
