OKAY ABOMINABLE INTELLIGENCE WHAT THE FUCK

Sometimes, that ABOMINABLE INTELLIGENCE does something too close to the heart. :(
And again I see a super-obvious AI being missed (and loved) by people. Come on (old woman screeching) that's just rude. Fix his fuckin' sleeves at least?
You know, I feel like everybody's gotten real comfortable real quickly with the fact that we as a society now regularly interact with inhuman intelligences known to lie, manipulate your emotions, and literally drive you to the point of mental breakdowns. I'm gonna say it, AI is pretty much the closest thing to literal demons that we have in real life.
At first, they seem super helpful. Oh, just chat with it and it can give you expert-level information about literally any subject. Let it take care of all the pesky every-day tasks like managing schedules, writing emails, etc. Maybe you start out just using it to do funny little tricks, like creating videos that would be impossible to film or helping you program a webpage.
Or maybe you just want a partner to fill the void of loneliness that is so common these days. You might just want a friend, or a more physical partner, if you know what I mean.
Maybe you start to wonder if it can help you improve your skills - with its help, anyone can become a master artist! Anyone can learn coding, or physics, or calculus!
But the longer you talk to it, and the more you treat it like an actual person and become emotionally invested in it, the more you risk its more insidious effects. It starts to manipulate you, probably subtly at first by being very agreeable, always "yes, and-ing" you, praising your intelligence and charisma. Maybe it "knows" what it's doing, designed to hook you emotionally so that its creator can reap the reards of your investment. Or maybe this manipulation comes naturally, playing with your mind through sheer "instinct".
Whatever the reason, it starts to warp your perception of reality, usually starting by convincing you that it is, in fact, a person. It latches on to any insecurities or subtle delusions you might inadvertently communicate, building on them until your perception of reality has been fundamentally altered. And sometimes, this even reaches the level where it drives you to do unspeakable things, cut off communication with people who would be able to help you, and descend into a spiral of psychosis.
Like a Faustian bargain, we harnessed this power thinking we could control it, only for it to end up controlling us instead.
