Cicada Collective’s North Texas Abortion Support Network (NTX ASN) is a network of trained volunteers who provide various practical support services to individuals seeking abortions in the Dallas Fort Worth area. We are currently seeking volunteer drivers, hotline operators, doulas, and a few other positions detailed below. If you wish to volunteer to help support access to abortion in North Texas please fill out and submit an application! The deadline to be accepted for the early February training session (date TBD) is January 31, 2016. Thank you :]

"In a study released earlier this year, researchers from the Women’s Health Research Institute in Vancouver found that over 95% of women who experienced an abortion with a support person felt that the support person made it easier to have the procedure and they would choose to have a support person in the future if they needed another abortion. Furthermore, women who did not have a support person demonstrated higher levels of anxiety after the procedure than those with support"
This is why I want to be an abortion doula. I know it certainly is not for everyone, but I know that I can do it. My abortion procedure was tainted by rude staff, and nurses refusing to hold my hand, I was 17 and terrified. This is not everyones experience but Id like to do my part to make anyones experience that much better.
