In what way did Alex and Izzy choose Jace over Astrid? Like some examples I guess

Usually things like leaving Astrid out if they sneak out for missions, always siding with Jace if there’s a debate on what to do, Astrid somehow always being the third wheel even where there were for of them, that sort of thing!

That being said, definitely some of it was Astrid’s own insecurities making things feel a lot worse, too! Like definitely none of them ever meant to leave her out or make her feel unwanted but they were so excited about having another friend that they’d get caught up in that and Astrid would feel super rejected but they didn’t mean to!!! They were all just kids, you know?

What does Jace think of Astrid? Does he know she doesn’t like him?

Jace saw Astrid as a bit of a rival too, but he definitely didn’t realize how much his presence (and the way the Lightwood kids sort of always chose him over her) hurt her!!

How did Alec, Izzy, and Jace feel when Astrid disappeared? And how did they feel when they saw her again especially since she’s a werewolf now?

All three of them were really upset! It’s always hard when someone doesn’t come back from a mission, and especially someone so young!!! Alec and Izzy just lost one of their best friends, and while Jace and Astrid weren’t very close, it’s still really upsetting for him too! It also feels like a failure to all three of them because they’re supposed to be a team and they all feel like they let her down!

When they first see her again, they don’t know that she’s a werewolf yet! She’s at Pandemonium with Clary & Simon, and while she knows a fair amount of the Downworlders there, they pick up on the fact that she’s with mundanes and don’t say anything! So when the Shadowhunters first arrive, they don’t actually notice her because it’s been years and she’s just a flash of dark hair by the bar, but when Clary disappears after them, Astrid follows, and at some point Alec tosses his blade towards Jace but Jace gets knocked over by one of the demons and Astrid catches it, and there’s this moment of absolute shock as they all suddenly recognize each other (including Astrid, who’d been too focused on the fight to really pay attention to the Shadowhunters)

She leaves without talking to them so they’re all really shocked and confused! Then Clary gets attacked by not-Dot and Jace shows up and they take her back to the Institute and Simon shows up telling Astrid that Clary’s missing and his GPS shows her phone at an abandoned church except Astrid knows that it’s the institute! So she goes with him, there’s a sort of awkward but sweet reunion (starting with Astrid and Simon arriving and Izzy just immediately running up and half-jumping on Astrid when she hugs her, and then Alec hugs her too) but she continues to refuse to answer questions about what happened!

Right now my plan is that they won’t actually find out that she’s a werewolf until the episode where Luke becomes alpha! Astrid shows up, finds Simon being held hostage, and quickly calls Izzy to let her know where they are! Then everything goes to shit and at some point in all of it, Astrid has to shift to save Jace! They have a lot of questions but obviously first they’re dealing with trying to keep Luke alive (Astrid is probably the one who suggests going to Magnus for help) and at some point they all end up reconvening at Magnus’ apartment (idk exactly when? after Alec gets there but before anyone leaves?) and Astrid refuses to leave Luke’s side so they all pile into the room and Astrid tells them all the full story? Including SImon and Clary since they didn’t know she was a werewolf and still don’t know any details about her being a shadowhunter!

So Maybe.. just Maybe (and when I say maybe I mean it probably is) my genuine anxiety of being left and being left alone without anybody who cares for me stems from me being non-binary/agender. Hiding what I really think about being called a girl, hiding being uncomfortable bc I knew even as little that if they knew how different I was they would cast me out. They would leave me. And now I’m scared my parent won’t accept me, because only now have I realized. And I’m scared. Cause there is still such a long way to go before the majority will accept that I don’t have to choose between binaries. So long before they will be able to let them self’s see me as I see myself.

Just maybe I have been preparing myself for ending up alone even though I want a partner because I’m scared no partner will accept me and my gender identity.

And I hide, I especially did when my hair was long, because the reactions I got made me uncomfortable.

I want things to change. I don’t want others to be scared this way. But being know will also mean that some might leave me. And I love them, so I don’t want that. But I also want to stop hurting like this.
