“What the hell was that?” you cried, shaking off your disorientation and flexing your hands as you tried to get blood running through them again. It was like you’d dunked them in icy water, and the floor was even worse off. When you'd released Nesta, the movement against the iced surface had caused it to break into chips of wood, frozen pieces of the blackened floor scattered everywhere.
Azriel rushed over to you, taking your icy hands in his own, trying to bring back some warmth in them.
You barely even noticed; your watering eyes still fixed on the destruction that laid before you. Distantly, you think you might hear him breathing out calming words, but you didn't process those either. What was happening?

It was if every emotion you’d ever felt, ever suppressed, was rushing out of you all at once. You were drowning beneath the waves. Firm hands traced circles on your back, and soft wind laid on your skin like a blanket. Your hands gripped the fabric that you felt brush against them as the warm voice kept murmuring, soothing you. You could only hold on tight as you cried, helpless against the never-ending torrent of pain.

Little question for fanfiction readers...
I've been wondering, as an author who's publishing fan fiction for the first time, how long my Azriel x Peregryn!Reader fic (Bird of Prey) should be. I'm ambivalent about it because i have some ideas to keep going (and the seeds have already been planted in the story), but I could also wrap it up pretty soon!
So, considering my chapters range from about 1.5k to 3k (or just in general):
What is your preferred fic length?
Oneshot
Less than 10 parts
between 10 and 20 parts
20+ parts
Any length is fine
(By the way, a new chapter is coming soon! I have a lot of things to finalize at uni before winter break but I'm using my breaks to write and edit, so stay tuned!)
Well as much as i tried to edit the next chapter, my car decided that tonight was the night for it to breakdown so i have to work on it:((( ill update when i can!!

I do have plans for it!! Especially since the most plot heavy stuff is coming up, its just that I hit one major problem as far as the storyline goes that I'm actively finding a way to fix.
You have good timing though, bc last night i shot up from bed at like 3 am with the singular purpose of writing somwthing down and turns out that idea might actually move things forward, finally!!
I might have pushed myself a bit too hard in the beginning without a solid plan, but I'm working on making whats left more coherent to make it easier to post regularly
