Alex used to hear all about Caroline's feelings for him then cakegate happens and Caroline has to "date" Alex, she's still crushing hard on Oliver and finally starts publicly seeing him in the aftermath of the email leak

Kason jumped into the car to be followed by her sister who tossed a coat, already having hers on.”Put it on and start this bitch up already.” Was all that Caroline said, putting her seat back a bit as she looked out the window. Kason put it on quickly before she headed out to the forest, which was oddly cold, snowy even, a shock to the two who decided to not question, for now at least.

Either way, the two had parked the car soon after they were in far enough, by that far enough where the car couldn’t go and set off on foot to try finding the man, to what they know of, was injured, in this freezing place, near death.
