With Valentione's Day coming up the question begs: is Desi single? If so is there any one special they have their eye on?
Desi’s availability depends on which version of him you are asking! I like AUs too much >w> Luckily there are only two relevant ones and only one of them is the default for this blog!
SCH/SMN! Desi (the one who is the default for this blog unless stated otherwise) is currently dating @aelzigo‘s Aelzigo No’zigo.
WoL! Desi is dating either @musicgamer1202‘s M’zikuh Tia (or…M’zikuh Rhaba? It’s really been a while since we talked characters) or @ruuari‘s Aih’li Riordan, depending on which version of his WoL group he is with. However, I don’t really talk shipping with either of them a lot anymore >w>
Both versions have little friend-crushes on @ffxivyi‘s Jillian Yi and @fistsofodyssey‘s Seth Collusi, to varying degrees.
So, short answer: No, Desi is not single!
Long answer: Desi has versions of him that are not single but if you can make me ship something I’ll find a way to make it so :vc
“I believe I’ve already answered the question on sexuality,” Desi chuckles kindly. “As for religion, I, like most Eorzeans, throw my lot in with The Twelve. But….” He trails off, his eyes wandering to the side as he tries to compose his thoughts. “How to describe this…well, I’m not particularly avid, I guess you could say.”
The halfling puts his hands in his pockets, but keeps his arms close to his body. “Primals and Eikons are….nasty business. Not only do they damage Hydaelyn when summoned, but…well….it brings into question, which gods are real, if at all, and which are simply figments of imagination?” Desi frowns, looking more concerned than anything.
“If I recall, during the Calamity, the power of the Twelve was evoked, and….” He winces, and a hand comes up to partially cover his face. “And…something happened, to make Bahaumut disappear. I don’t….quite remember,” he admits, adding with a mutter, “but then again, nobody really does.”
He sighs gently, and puts his hand back in his pocket. “But point is, they could feasibly be summoned, just like Ifrit, or Garuda, or Titan. Or even beings like King Mog XII! He’s not necessarily a god to the Moogles, but he is a very important historical figure to them!” Desi exclaims, nearly throwing his hands up into the air. He begins to pace about, clearly unsettled. “I mean, it’s so complicated, because summoning a god is apparently so simple! If I made up a new god, got people to follow my new religion, and procured a large amount of crystal, would I be able to summon this new god?” He throws his hands down. “The answer is probably yes! Seven Hells, it needn’t even be a god, it could just be someone considered important. It’s….it’s silly!”
Desi sighs again, frustrated this time, and stops in his tracks. “Ahh, in any case, religion just clearly isn’t for me,” he frowns, shaking his head. “I don’t call upon any of the Twelve unless I’m desperate, and even then I don’t really mean it,” he admits. “But, if anything, I do think that faith can be important. If someone wants to worship whatever deity they believe in, then good on them.”
He pauses for a moment, grasping at a thought. “Oh, but I do think Hydaelyn has a will of Her own. Such has been alluded to in multiple unrelated cultures, so….there’s some truth there, I think!” Desi nods, mostly to himself.
“But I’m not about to start worshipping Her, though.” He smiles brightly and leans forward playfully, declaring, “I’ve better things to do!!”
“Opinion on…sexuality.” Desiderio crosses his arms and tilts his head thoughtfully, taking a moment to compose his thoughts. After a brief moment, he lifts his hands, using them as scales to visually depict the gender binary as he refers to it. “Well, factually speaking, it is what it is. Some people like men, and some people like women!” He shrugs, as if it is obvious. “Others are interested in both sexes, and others are willing to be with those who are in between.”
He drops his hands and puts them deep within his pockets, though he is not done. “There are people who are okay with sleeping with someone they’ve just met. And there are people who are only attracted to others they become emotionally connected to.”
Desi smiles brightly, though there is a hint of embarrassment behind it as he takes a hand from his pocket and places it on his chest to motion to himself. “Then there are people like me, who don’t care at all! And there are so many more ‘categories’ I could list, but I won’t. I suppose what I’m trying to say is, sexuality is what it is. People are attracted to whoever they are attracted to, and though scholars can try to categorize it, no one truly fits into any of the little boxes. Ah, and then there is the more emotional aspect of relationships, and also fetishes…those are something else entirely,” he chuckles.
“In any case, I’ve better things to do than judge someone by what gender they are attracted to,” he nods affirmatively. “Besides,” he grins, “there’s so much more to a person than that, anyway!”
(( If you manage to piss him off, he can be really calmly sadistic. But otherwise, he’s quite willing to bend over for other people’s sake. ))
23. How obedient to authority is your character?
“Uhh, ahaha…..erm…..as obedient as I have to be….? Following rules is good and all, but, uhm….sssssometimes…..er…..w-well, I’ve broken some rules and fought some guards. B-but it was only when I couldn’t find any other way! Let’s leave it at that, o-okay?”
“It’s not so bad! Considering I went to a school in a nation surrounded by the sea, it’s hard to dislike it. The smell’s rather nice, the waves are relaxing to listen to…though I’m afraid I don’t have the stomach to be out on the seas for long. Sailing just isn’t for me, sorry!”
2. How does your character feel about piracy?
“Hmm….I’m not keen on it, but I admit there have been instances where piracy has been good! For instance, the Admiral’s current laws on piracy has it that pirates are encouraged to raid Garleans, and I know that there have been and still are pirates who follow a code of honor. In the end, piracy has its place.”
3. Is your character adventurous?
“Hah! That’s like asking if the sun sets and rises! If I wasn’t adventurous, I wouldn’t have even left my house! I’d still be a little bum in Gridania, ehehe!”

13. How important is formal education to your character?
“As a diplomat for Ishgard, I say yes. As as duelist, I still say yes.
….But personally, I think that formal education has still only taught me so much. A lot of what I have learned came from experience. Formal education is good for preparing one for the beginning, but experience will always teach one much more than a lesson in a safe space. That’s not to say one should forego formal education entirely, though. Please, get a teacher.”
14. Is your character secretive?
“Hmhm. What do you think?”
15. How does your character view magic?
“Magic is a tool, much like a sword or a spear. It is versatile, and can achieve many things. Destruction or succor, it is ultimately up to the wielder. But it is very dangerous, as the War of the Magi proved. If used irresponsibly, it will wreak havoc not only on the user, but on anything around them - be it their environment, or other people. Experimentation is extremely dangerous, and those who try are either brave, or fools.
Ah, but don’t be mistaken. I think magic is fantastic. It just has to be in the right hands.”
Imay not be as amazing as I once hoped to be, but the most amazing and inspirational thing I've ever known is knowing someone who is more amazing than they've ever dreamed.
