Okay so it’s not eleven, but here’s more about me being a furry. HOW I CAME TO THIS REALIZATION: I was reading “A Tale of Two Rulers” (a Zelda/Ganon comic) last night, which I mentioned to Jason, and he was like, “Ew.” And I was like, “Shut Up.” but then he sat by me and looked at it and was like, “Oh, I didn’t realize he was a dude”, as in he was thinking of Ganon as just a big pig monster. He didn’t specify if that made the ship suddenly okay, but that was sort of the implication. Anyway, that got me thinking about his reactions to my other ships, many of which are similar. Regular Human x Large Human-ish But Also Monster-ish Guy. Like, he’s totally cool with Mako/Gamagoori (KLK), and I think he might actually like Shepard/Garrus (ME3), and he knows (I think) that I like LW x Fawkes (from Fallout3) but I think that’s getting a little too weird for him still? And obviously I like Beauty/Beast, and my very favorite versions of the story have Beast stay in beast form which is FINE BY ME, I still ship it. I think it squicks him a little, but it’s such a classic story he can’t side-eye me too hard about it hahaha XD;. But I realized that those ships are all on a scale that goes from Human (acceptable) to Monster (ew gross), and the further it gets to the Monster side, the more I like it. Just, inevitably. And what makes them monsters? Well, mostly it’s size and being likened to an animal/ having animal characteristics. Which made me realize that... this isn’t a new thing for me? I have always liked human/not-exactly-human pairings. Like, even my original characters??? I don’t think about it often, but-- they’re low-key furries. My earliest OCs: centaurs, sometimes shipped with humans. And the moptails-- they’re basically furry frog-mermaids, and definitely shipped with humans. Hell, my most recent OC ship is a normal human guy with an alien that’s basically a big lizard! (--who is constantly considered like a ‘dumb animal’ because it’s shy and gentle and doesn’t speak very well.) Which spawned a thought: most people are obviously against bestiality; I am too. But why? I’m fairly certain it’s 95% because animals lack our intelligence and can’t consent to a relationship, and only 5% because of how they look. Seriously, if animals could hold an adult conversation with you, I think people would have a much different outlook on the whole thing. SO ANYWAY. That’s how I came to the conclusion that I am a furry.
Reminder that hatred of furries is just thinly-veiled queerphobia, and anyone who hates furries is either misinformed, tricked by modern purity culture, or a conservative who knows they can't just be openly homophobic anymore.
"erm... someone call radiohead, because this guy is both a creep AND a weirdo" lives rent free in my head even if i dont remember it often
oh my god charley! So you're one of those fur brothers now?? 😱 Am I shocked? Probably! Am I disappointed? Idk yet
I support everyone who has is enthusiastic about something non violent and non harmful. There is no reason to generally hate furries. From cosplaying and uni I know a few and nearly all of them are nice, polite and pleasant people to be around. I do not see why I should have negative thoughts or behaviour towards kind people who engage in their hobby. Besides making stupid memes. :D
No seriously, I’ve never had anything against furries, and I got asked by some friends who wear fursuits if I want to borrow a suit and go to an event with them one day and I’m considering to do that eventually, just to see how it is. In the end it wouldn’t be much of a difference whether I dress up as Luke skywalker or a cute wolf. Children would think I’m cool anyway XD
so if you are shocked that I have a basic respect for nearly everyone with enthusiasm and creativity and that I am curious about many things and like to try as much as I can, then, uhm, I hope you calm down again ^^’Plus it’s hard to hate people who love animals and have an animal persona while I walk through the world repeatedly claiming that I’m in fact an octopus/squid XDD
If you boop the snoot you gotta snoop the boot.
