if you're learning french i promise you native ppl are also confused. stumbling upon vouvoiement because am i friendly enough with that person or am i being unprofessional? always saying "bonjour" and being met with "bonsoir" but when you say "bonsoir" they say "bonjour" and everyone is now embarassed. leaning in for a bise but they were holding out their hand for a handshake so you reajust but they reajusted for a bise and now everyone is chuckling awkwardly. nobody knows what is going on ever

Ten days ago, I organized an "Inclusive French" workshop in Paris, to discuss how you can be more inclusive (feminism, gender neutral) in both written and spoken French!

It was so cool, about 40 people showed up and we talked about how to talk about nonbinary people, strategies to be more inclusive of women especially when talking about groups...

So cool in fact that I decided to host an online one for people who aren't in Paris.

The first online workshop will be on Saturday, January 31st at 6pm CET (so 5pm GET, 12pm EST and 9am PST)

être mort de rire/faim/honte/peur

You probably already know "MDR", aka "mort de rire" (dying of laughter). And if you do, then you can easily learn these 3 other variations for other moods:

être mort de faim = to be starving (dying of hunger)

être mort de honte = to be mortified (dying of shame)

être mort de peur = to be scared to death

If you're a woman, you'll only have to write "morte" instead of "mort" to mark the gender.

'Non Mais' directly translates into 'No but'. But I only ever hear it used as a phrase for exasperation, therefore my translation is simply: '>:(' LOL (Any native French speakers, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong in this, of course!)
