She dreams in red. 

Sand swirls around her feet, replicating the tide of the sea she’ll come to love. In this time, she doesn’t know the sea, can barely imagine that amount of water. She knows the feeling of burning in the near overwhelming heat. The feeling of wind whipping at her loose hair, sand biting and scratching open her skin.

There’s laughter in front of her, two silhouettes she knows. How could she not? They’ve been burned into her memory, sources of light. Why then, is she crying? She walks towards, feeling yet uncaring of the hot sand and biting winds. Somewhere, she sees the light glinting off of metal. It always caught her eye. That’s all Mars was to her. Hot, bright, full of things that tore and were made of metal.

She walks towards them, knowing without feeling that there’s a smile on her face. She goes to say their names, hands reaching for them and -- had there always been blood on her hands? Where did the knife come from?

The silhouettes collapse to the floor, and she sees the doorstep to their old home. There’s monsters kneeling in the sand. Gaunt bodies and clawing hands. Blood on their mouths. Fire spreads, the knife now joins her hands, all covered in slowly dripping red.

She holds Pirala’s hand, her sisters eyes already glass and unseeing. Curil’s head rests in her lap, his throat bitten, his lips move even though no sound comes out. His eyes glass over. She hears her own voice without realizing she’s speaking, jumbled Russian and pleas for both to breathe once again. She knows what happens next.

She burns in gold.

There’s a knife in her hand as Isiel jolts awake to sitting. Breathing heavily, she feels too hot, always too hot. Setting the knife down on her bedside table, she pushes the window almost desperately. Hanging her head as the cool air washed over her, the beads of sweat along her forehead and neck cooling. She ignores the trembling of her fingers as she covers her face, simply trying to breathe regularly again.

She feels him first, the cool metal of her Ghosts’ shell against her hands. “Isiel,” he calls gently, repeating her name till she lowers her hands, moving to nearly cradle him instead. Circinus doesn’t say more, but the soft melody of a music box begins to play.

Her breathing seizes. Holding him against her chest, she doesn’t try to hide the tears rolling down her face. Not that her sobs could barely be heard over the sound of the melody on the breeze.

Muse Info; Unique Handling of the Light - Isiel

Isiel - Void:

Isiel first started experimenting with her Light when she was still on Mars and had no one to guide her. Void is actually the element that came to her as the first she could use when she accidentally turned invisible out of panic over potentially being seen while engaging in some thievery. Since it was easy for her to start with Void, she actually learned how to create a variety of smoke bombs for use in her line of work fairly quickly. After that, it was all about experimenting with seeing if she could do anything related to making knives with Void energy. It worked, with some added stress on her body, but more than that, she learned how to form Spectral Blades in the process. Albeit, her Spectral Blades, instead of being two separate knives, is in the form of a double bladed scimitar that can split into those two separate knives, but it always starts in that that double-bladed form when created initially. She’s also learned how to go invisible when using the Bow, no matter which tree, in a similar manner to who one goes invisible when using Spectral Blades.

Her experiments with Arc started after accidentally shocking herself (also while working to strip ships of their outer plating subtly). The first current had stung, but then she couldn’t shake the feeling of pins and needles in her arms and was able to grab hold of that feeling, find the electric current, and something more akin to a Warlock melee to try to get rid of the energy. As such, she’s much attuned to using Arc energy much like how a Titan or Warlock might, focusing the energy into her hands and using the electrical currents to paralyze her enemies.

Solar was, not the hardest to feel, as she felt the energy first (even before Void), but the wildness of the element intimidated her into not seeking it out first. However, feeling the thrum of the Solar under her skin constantly (even when using Void) led to her eventually seeking it out. The knives of Solar were the easiest weapon she’d ever summoned when she started out, and even though the flames often left her fingers with minor burns, she found out ways to cover her hands in a thin film of Solar to keep the fire from burning to badly. After that, she learned how to simply hold fire in her hand before weaponizing it (similar to the Celestial Fire that Warlocks have). It’s from here that she then experiments with mimicking the Shoulder Charge from the Titans.

 With Solar being her strongest element, Isiel found multiple ways to bend it to her will that are unusual, the most obvious being when she cast Blade Barrage for the first time. After she learned she could focus her Light into a new shape, even with her super, is when she started working on mimicking the Titans throwing flaming hammers in that she focused on stamina with throwing her knife, making it so that she can essentially roam with her Blade Barrage.

She also learned, in the early City Age, how to throw up a Towering Shield, made of any of the three elements, but she tends to keep away from throwing up Solar shields as they can burn the people on either side.

( also a mini headcanon that’s a minor AU with @orphidian but, Orin teaching Isiel how to do the shoulder charge is beautiful and hilarious)

💐 - How does your OC handle being unwell or forced to rest in bed? Who cares for them and in what ways? Does your OC enjoy being doted on or are they a terrible patient? Reversed: is your OC good at taking care of others who are ill or in need?

🌳 - What is your OC’s favourite way to relax after a stressful day? Do they have a favourite book to curl up with? A hobby? Or do they have a nice bubble bath and have an early night to bed?

💫 - What is your favourite fact about this character and why?

💐 - How does your OC handle being unwell or forced to rest in bed? Who cares for them and in what ways? Does your OC enjoy being doted on or are they a terrible patient? Reversed: is your OC good at taking care of others who are ill or in need?

- Isiel does not handle being forced to rest all that well, especially if resting involves not doing anything, even art or writing. She always needs to be busy, and prefers doing something with her hands as her way of being busy, so bedrest and her do not get along. 

When it comes to being sick, she handles it a little better as she knows that working won’t help her get better faster, but she still gets bored at times. In both cases, she normally tries to watch her favorite movies to help combat the boredom. She’s for sure not the best patient ever. 

When she’s sick, it was (while the Crew was still together) usually Cayde or Shiro who took care of her since they’re Exos and I imagine they can’t get sick. Otherwise, Circinus usually frets so much that she takes care of herself in order to keep her Ghost from somehow breaking himself via worry.

She is however, pretty good at taking care of others when they are sick or need to rest. She had a good deal of practice with Curil and Pirala, and even Andal some of the time, and with how stubborn she is, she can usually win arguments with whoever she’s looking after.

🌳 - What is your OC’s favourite way to relax after a stressful day? Do they have a favourite book to curl up with? A hobby? Or do they have a nice bubble bath and have an early night to bed?

- She has a few different hobbies she’ll indulge in after a stressful day, though they vary depending on what caused her stress. If she simply needs time to not think, she usually watches her favorite movies and drink spiked hot chocolate or cold tea to help her relax. If she needs to get her thoughts out, she usually writes poetry. If she doesn’t want to write her thoughts but needs to keep her hands busy, she does watercolor paintings or charcoal sketches. She always cuddles her cats no matter what though.

💫 - What is your favourite fact about this character and why?

I have too many lmao. But honestly, I think my favorite fact about her is just how hard she tries to be good when she grew up in an environment where trying to be a good person usually made someone end up dead. She grew up in an incredibly toxic environment and does not see herself as a good person, just someone who got lucky, and now she needs to do everything possible to prove that she can be good (to prove to Cayde that reaching out to her wasn’t a waste).

It’s a sad fact, but I do love it.

Mise Tidbits: Fireworks

Coreopsis does not like the sound of certain fireworks (the ones that sound likes gunshots) but they like the look of them and ghe closer to thunder or sparkles the fireworks sound the better.

Isiel likes the looks of fireworks but doesn't like the sound and if people in the city try to light off fireworks she will throw hands (the sound can affect her ptsd especially when echoing in the city)

Ehries likes fireworks but she likes making her own via falling stars and stardust, hers always sound musical

2. What is your Guardian’s favourite season/weather?

Isiel: Favorite weather would be cloudy skies with the sun shining through, and as such, her favorite season is autumn, partially cause the cold is actually comfortable for her to be in, especially when she was new to Earth.

Coreopsis: Adores the spring/summer seasons, they love to see plants and flowers bloom, and sunny weather is their favorite (it also helps them feel more comfortable).

Ehries: Winter is her favorite season, in part because she doesn’t really get cold considering she’s just, made of energy. However, she, like Isi, likes the cloudy + sunny type of weather.

Zikris: Used to favor summer, but since being turned into an Exo, they prefer the cooler temperatures of spring. They like cloudy days.

9. Does your Guardian have a favourite planet/location to visit?

Isiel: Her favorite planet used to be Venus, but now she prefers to just wander over Earth and will spend a lot of time going through old routes she used to take during the Dark Age, along with spending a lot of time in the Cosmodrome. The sight of Russian is familiar and comforting to her.

Coreopsis: Their favorite place to visit is the Dreaming City since they found a peaceful spots to rest in it. They also like the EDZ and will spend time either there or in their secret workshop outside of the Tower.

Ehries: Space in general is their favorite place to visit, but she has a fondess for Venus as well as Europa.

Zikris: Riis is their favorite planet, but since the Whirlwind, and with the Eliksni slowly working together with the Guardians, they enjoy the Cosmodrome too.

10. What does your Guardian do to relax? Do they ever relax?

Isiel: Surprisingly, Isi does actually relax sometimes, usually in the safety of her apartment and away from other people, or out in the wilds (it’s getting her guard completely down that’s the hard part). She likes read and write poetry when she wants to relax, though sometimes she’ll paint or do wood burning. She’s always got to keep herself busy in some way, even when taking a break.

Coreopsis: Similar to Isi, Coreopsis likes to be able to do something with their hands even relaxing, but they prefer to do gardening, pottery, or metal sculpting in their free time. They also meditate when they need to relax.

Ehries: She likes to tell and read stories when relaxing, but she also finds time to do weaving/needlework. Otherwise, being the Tower cryptid, she can pretty easily find time to just sit somewhere as a cat, peacefully watching over the people of the City while relaxing in the sun.

Zikris: Watching over the young Eliksni of their pack is, oddly enough, a relaxing experience for them. Any time they can reminisce about Riis, even though it brings them sadness, is also how they relax sometimes.

Muse Tidbits - Protective Tendencies

When it comes to protecting her loved ones Isiel very easily can swap between Golden Gun and Blade Barrage (like how Cayde did) and with the way her armor is built, she can cast her supers multiple times easily. It’s probably not too surprising.

However, when it comes as more of a surprise with Coreopsis. Though they usually prefer Void, if someone they’re close to is in danger, they can Golden Gun or they turn enemies into tethers with the bow.

Ehries just can cause gravity to collapse around someone, or briefly open black holes.
