We’re getting closer to the first anniversary of Mouthwashing, and I’m finally introducing my 2nd Mouthwashing OC, Santos \o/

He’s part of my AU with Sammy. He has a crush on her and DESPISES Jimmy. He also had a part on the demise of Sammy and Jimmy’s relationship (more under the cut)

First of all, I like to think PE rotates personnel (like they do on airlines) so the same crew is not always assigned to the same ship (except for the Captain, and the Captain can request specific crew members to go with him on hauls).

With that in mind, Santos has had a couple of hauls with Curly, Jimmy and Sammy. He gets well along with Curly and Sammy, but he can’t stand Jimmy, therefore never really joined their circle of friends, and rather keeps his distance, otherwise he ends up engaging in petty fights with Jim 😅

On the other hand, he quickly developed a crush on Sammy, and was determined to tell her once he’d got back on earth from a different haul… but unfortunately, by the time he did, he learned that Sammy and Jimmy had started dating while he was gone. This obviously made him very upset, as he couldn’t understand how a girl like Sammy could date an asshole like Jim.

Then came a haul in which the 4 of them were together. Santos, still angry and affected by the situation, started making very obvious advances towards Sammy; flirting, constantly complimenting her, reaching out to touch her, showing off his physique and skills, little things just to piss Jimmy off. And he achieved it, but instead of facing Santos directly, Jim began taking it out on Sammy, accusing her of provoking him and flirting back with him, when she was doing nothing of the sort.

Jim and Sammy started fighting constantly. Santos would try to console her whenever he’d find her crying, and insist her to break up with him, telling her that she deserved better and all, but it was just too much for her. That haul became absolute hell for her.

When they returned to earth, she did break up with Jim, but she didn’t get together with Santos. On the contrary, she stopped talking to him as well, and decided to stay single for a while and work on herself, go to therapy and rebuild her self-confidence.

Santos eventually realized he was a massive douche to her and apologized profusely. She accepted his apology, but things haven’t been the same between them since then.

Today is Mexico’s Independence Day (Viva México 🥳🇲🇽!!)

I didn’t really do anything for it, so instead I thought I could do some lore dumping, since both Jimmy and Sammy are of Mexican ascendancy in my AU (more under the cut)

🟢 JIMMY (⚠️ Abuse mention)

His grandparents were Mexican immigrants. His mom was born in the US, but she was a very rebel teenager. Got pregnant at 15 and gave birth at 16, she never knew who the father was because she’d sleep around with several guys. She never really made herself responsible for the child, so Jim was mostly raised by his grandfather, who was very abusive. He’d whip Jim with his leather belt, sometimes using the end with the buckle (that’s how he got his lip scar) whenever he misbehaved; and he also grew up watching his grandfather mistreat his grandmother, who was very fragile and submissive. He promised himself that he would never treat his future wife like that (and has kept his promise, as he’s never raised a hand against Sammy).

They hardly spoke English in his household, they’d mostly speak Spanish, but him and his mom learnt English at school.

Both his GPs have passed. He doesn’t have the best relationship with his mom (currently 56) but they stay in touch. She tries to be more present in his life now.

🟣 SAMMY

Her mom is Mexican, born and raised, and her father is US American. She got the citizenship when she married him and moved to the US with him. Then they had Sammy (as a single child). They’re a functional and loving family, and her parents are still together.

Sammy’s mom taught her Spanish from a very young age, and raised her practicing Mexican traditions and cooking Mexican dishes. In their household they speak a combination of Spanish and English (as her dad also learned some Spanish), but mostly English.

🟢🟣 BONDING OVER HERITAGE

Not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but Jimmy didn’t like Sammy at first (‘cause he thought Curly was after her and she was basically stealing his BFF 😂), but Sammy was adamant to befriend him… and that didn’t happen until one day that she heard him curse in Spanish. She approached and asked him “¿Hablas Español? 😃” (Do you speak Spanish?), to which he replied “¿*TÚ* hablas Español? 🤨” (Do *YOU* speak Spanish?). And all excitedly she said “¡SÍ!” (Yes!) and started telling him about her Mexican mother in Spanish. They both continued to talk and sooner than later, they broke the ice ❤️

There was something that made me think for a while: if she was first intended to be Anya's partner, how u came up with the idea of her being with jimbob at some point? I would like to know bc there's a big gap there n all. I mean, a healthy to unhealthy gap. It made me curious abt the reasoning! Also I didn't rb before your post sorry for that 😩

I guess that decision was affected by my own personal feelings towards the characters during the creative process :’) The first time I watched a let’s play of MW, I was left feeling very protective of Anya and I HATED Jim with a burning passion. So, originally, Sammy was gonna be an ex-military, roughed and kinda buff, and she was going to protect Anya (here’s a rough sketch I made of that, plz don’t mind the anatomy or flawed perspective, I was experimenting 🤣)

But as days went by… You know, I kept having MW in the brain, and started to realize that the one that had actually made a VERY PROFOUND IMPACT on me had been Jim. I couldn’t stop thinking about him, and thinking about him would make me so angry. Like, I really, REALLY FUCKING HATED him. But it got to a point in which I was like “…Wow. I don’t know how long it’s been since a character has made me feel something so intensely.” And then I started to appreciate him more for the character and the villain that he is. He is SO WELL DONE, like I bow down to Wrong Organ. So… little by little, love started to bloom from that hatred, and I wanted to use Sammy to express those feelings :’3 (Don’t be fooled tho, the love and hate I feel for him go hand in hand and neither replaces the other. I still hate him for his actions in the game and rejoice whenever I see fanarts of him getting what he deserves, lawfully or violently, but I love him as a character all the same, and who am I kidding? I do find him physically attractive, he’s my type lmao).

Now, in regards to Jim and Sammy’s relationship, I’m obviously well aware that Jim is not a sweet pea, and that if they were to be together romantically, it would be a terrible, terrible relationship. Since Sammy is a self insert, I decided to have her know better than to stay with him, and, well… that reminded me of a personal experience that I had with an ex boyfriend of mine :’) Thankfully, my ex was NOT NEARLY AS BAD as Jim (it would be like comparing a newborn tabby kitten to a full grown tiger lmao), but I still knew that he was no good for me and that I deserved better, so I broke up with him. However, I was still so madly in love with him, and stayed in love with him for around 10 years 🫠 I went to therapy, “got over him”, and then cried for him again the next time I saw him. Took me a LOOOOOT to finally get over him for good, but I was able to have closure. And, well… I decided to base Sammy and Jim’s relationship on that. She knows she deserves better, and she’s not afraid to hold him accountable for the things he says and does, but deep down she’s still very much in love with him (and those feelings will ultimately doom her) YwY

Anyway, I should probably wrap this up before it keeps getting longer 😅😅 I’m so sorry

Well, as I’ve mentioned before, I am writing a fan fiction about her, so I wouldn't like to give away too much info for now ><💦 (the fic will cover the events of the game, from start to finish, and it will mostly focus on her rotten relationship with Jim, as well as with the other members of the crew like Curly and Anya, and, well, her reaction to the whole shebang that went down). ⭐️ Another thing I'd like to mention right now, that is very important to her character, is the she LOVES Polle ❤️🐴 She has a plushie of him that became her comfort stuffed animal, and making the Lounge statue talk makes her really happy (which, as you can imagine, doesn't sit very well with a certain crew mate).

⭐️ Personality-wise, she's very kind and smart. Before Jim, she used to be very bubbly and friendly, but after dating Jim, she developed severe anxiety and depression, and her self esteem collapsed to the floor. Therapy helped her regain some of that, but she hasn't fully been the same since then 🙁

In the Tulpar, before the crash, she's on edge the entire time, but she's not afraid to confront Jim and say things to his face, even get physical with him if needed. But as months go by, her mental health starts to slowly slip away, and after the crash, well... let's just say she loses more than just her eye 🙃

I'm late about Sammy's birthday but I actually love how Swansea said about them to get a room it's too funny for me to see but I could tell that Swansea was trying to protect Sammy who was like a daughter to him away from Jimmy even though he could careless enough about the crew but sometimes I wonder if those two were doing some couple things while Swansea was being at the third wheel

Nah, their PDA just makes ppl uncomfortable sometimes lmao. And by people I mean Swansea and Anya; Curly loves to see his OTP kissing and Daisuke, well... 🤣🤣

And there really wasn’t a confession as it is. Curly had already hinted at Jimmy that Sammy liked him, and Jimmy had been checking her out for a while, noticing that she’d get flustered whenever he got too close. So one day (during Curly’s bday party where the protein powder cake thing happened), Jimmy found Sammy fixing her makeup in Curly’s room and he closed and locked the door behind him. They started talking about the party a bit, then Jimmy complimented her looks for the evening, to which she said that she was afraid she might’ve overdressed, but he said “not at all”…All this while Jimmy was sloooowly approaching her, making her more and more nervous. Then she revealed that she was actually hoping to talk to him (she dressed pretty because she wanted to confess her feelings for him during that party), and Jimmy cornered her with his arms against the dresser, telling her to go ahead, and the poor girl was so nervous that she started stuttering and rambling out their story from when Curly introduced them, but he chuckled and shushed her and started kissing her before she could finish. Then she immediately reciprocated and he carried her to the bed, where, well, they had wild intercourse 🤣 And in the end Jim told her “you’re mine now” and she said the same to him, and from then they started dating (/0u0)/✨

Anyway, something just popped in my mind, and I just wanted to ask: What happened to Sammy and Jimmy's relationship when she figured out Jimmy cheated on her with Anya? Since she's your OC, and she was in a relationship with him, what happened when the whole Jimmy Anya thing happened? No rush to answer back! Just curious about your lore of Sammy! 🤗❤️

In regard to your first question, at that time Sammy and Jim were no longer together. They dated prior to the events of the game, but she broke up with him after 11 months. Then, a year and a half later, they were both assigned to the same haul, thanks to Curly (everybody say “thank you Curly!”) and Sammy was mortified. Jim kept trying to get back with her, but she kept rejecting him, until, well, he snapped and committed the acts that he is infamous for. It only after the crash that Sammy’s mental health plummeted and she finally agreed to get back with him.
