Because of a certain friend of mine I got inspired to go digging around in to Mirror World again, more specifically in to the goddess Mantis and I dug to deep! Way to deep! This friend also told me that it'd be "cool" to read about Mantis so here it is in case anyone else would like to read it.
Mirror World: Description on Mantis.
Mantis is the only god (well goddess) in Mirror World although it didn’t always use to be that way. When Mirror World was first created there were a few gods all of whom gave each other their names.
The gods were not on the friendliest terms when it came to giving each other titles. Two examples include Tunder whom some (well half) of the gods/goddesses wanted as a god of winter due to his name but the other half wanted him to be the god of judgment due to his personality and the other example includes Mantis, half the gods/goddesses wanted Mantis to be the goddess of harvest (again because of her name) and the other half wanted her to be the goddess of love and fertility due to her compassion and love (obviously) and so on with all the others. They all agreed that their titles shall wait for when the time is right.
In time however Mantis grew to resent and hate her “colleagues” and she became quite jealous of them. Her resentment and hatred came from them belittling her ideas and simply belittling her self in general, saying how most of them were much more important than her which also ignited her jealousy and need to be the only god for the people of Mirror World to worship.
Mantis knew all her colleagues quite well and that is mostly because of the fact that if they actually needed to talk she was the one they would go to thus not only her having their complete trust but their own weaknesses. Mantis used this knowledge against them to create their downfall. In order to do this she used her compassion to hide her true intentions and sadly, none of them suspected that she was the reason for their downfall, not until it was just her and a god named Filon but even then it was far too late for him.
However due to the gods’ “fall” many things that should have been created never came to be. Such as four plains of the afterlife, Puriloth (which would be Mirror World’s heaven) and Astrune (which would have been a complicated second chance at life), Cadar (which would have been a sort of waiting room/limbo) and Helioth (which of course would have been Mirror World’s hell). Something else that was never created (or at least to all the other deities) were certain rituals and festivals to say thanks to the gods for good fortune, blessings, strength etc. Unfortunately for Mantis she never gained an ounce the others powers thus all that was planned and lost is lost forever, although Mirror World does hold festivals and rituals for Mantis for everything though many of those festivals and rituals are only held in vain. Well to those whom believe in her.
Another thing Mantis cannot do is create mortals or creatures very well; each time she tried they came out very strangely that could barely function for (approximately) their twenty-four hour life span. Fortunately for her though the god who was able to create creatures made many of them and the god who could create mortals ended up creating two with their third on the way before their fall yet it wasn’t enough for Mantis, she needed more mortals. When she caught wind of the “non-Mirror World” mortals’ tale of Bloody Mary she was thrilled and opened the doorways, the very same doorways they all agreed upon that should remain closed. Mantis used this legend by becoming “Bloody Mary” in order to capture people to live in Mirror World faster. Of course when she felt there were enough people she closed the doors as best to her capability as possible which was not very well.
Mantis greatly prides herself on being Mirror World’s only deity and takes full credit in its creation, from the skies above to the deepest part of the ocean. Because of her pride if another god from any other world she would observe them to see what makes them tick then she would plot against them that is if they were to permanently decide to live in Mirror World and that is if she actually knows about them.
Recently Mantis lives as secretly as possible. Once upon a time she would walk and even talk amongst the mortals but ever since she healed a dying baby (which is something else Mantis should never have done), Isatos (which happened about twenty years ago) she feels that almost no mortal/resident of Mirror World has the right to gaze upon her, save for the Ruler (which she has now been hand picking for almost thirty years). This recent development is due to the fact that when she healed Isatos her humanity went in to the dying infant which means Mantis is now much more dangerous. It also means that Isatos can never stray outside Mirror World in case Mantis would want her humanity back but if she so chooses to have regain it from Isatos it would not only kill her (Isatos) but it would be quite catastrophic to Mirror World as (quite possibly) well to Mantis herself.
