Childhood
. Nari was born in Tokyo, Japan and lived there for 12 years. Her father is a Korean man who worked as an engineer. He met her mother when he had to work in Japan for a couple of years and then married there. Her mother was also Korean but she was born in Japan. When they got married they stayed in Japan and gave birth to a beautiful daughter and son. Nari lived happily with her family and her parents were always there for her and raised her with lots of love. She couldn't be any happier. She was a shy and sweet innocent little girl who curious about everything and loved to build things. She only had a few friends in her childhood because of her shyness. Nari loved her friends dearly. When she turned 12 her parent took her to see South Korea for the first time where she met her grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. They ended up visiting Korea more often after that. She loved it there.
Incident. When Nari was 16 she had graduated early since she was home schooled, she had decided to go study in Korea for college, she wanted to learn interior design. She loved anything that had to do with designing and building. She just loved the thought of creating something. When she had settled in to her dorm she made a few new friends. Her roommate was her closest friend. Her roommate was more courageous and outgoing than she was, her roommate was basically her opposite. One day her roommate took her out to go clubbing, to "learn to have some fun and meet new people!" she was hesitant about it and didn't know what to do, she's never done anything like that before but she did want to step out of her comfort zone for once. When they got to the club she was too shy to dance so she just sat down and watched her friend and everyone around her. It wasn't her kind of place, after all she was too shy and innocent but she did love people watching. Her friend later on took her out to a club again this time they got Nari to get drunk.
That was where she made a mistake.
That night she was drunk someone convinced her to follow them out of the club. The man took her somewhere more secluded, he then raped her and brutally murdered her, stabbing her in the chest and smashing her head in with a nearby broken brick.
Death. When she opened her eyes she saw a mysterious figure wearing a black cloak, the hood covering it's face. The figure had such an intense presence that it scared her. He introduced himself as "death" and explained that she had just been murdered and he was there to escort her soul to the place where spirits belong, where they were to live until judgment day. She immediately began to cry and scream from fear. She wasn't ready. But death ignored her and gestured for her to follow, that's when she grabbed his hand to plead.
She kept crying and begging for death not to take her anywhere. But upon her hand touching his, Death had saw her entire past and who she is, all because he held her hand for too long. he decided to give in and give her her life back on the condition that she would accompany him on his duties, he also warned her that he would have to erase any memories of her from her friends and family, making her a complete stranger, and that she wouldn't be allowed to meet them as it could create a rift in the realms, causing chaos. She agreed and he then resurrected her, her old existence disappearing from the reality she new, as her current existence took place. Death had committed a sin, broken a rule in which even gods try to avoid.
Life. She went back to living like a normal human-being. Though some of her memories were missing and scattered all over the place...and she could see souls of the dead, angels, and demons. She hated it at first she was scared and horrified. Though she would never get used to the site of the demons and cursed souls. Death helped her get back on her feet. Though he could never bring back the innocence she once had. She was corrupted, she had changed. She was no longer the same and never could be, she kept her emotions locked away and learned to build a wall between her and others. Demons were constantly after her. Her body was like a portal to the demons, a portal that could open a gate between all the realms. She preferred to be alone and got into some drug use and drinking. Eventually, Death fell in love with her and she fell in love with him. But they both knew it was forbidden and even if it wasn't it would be impossible for them to love each other. Death pushed her away everytime she'd make a move for her own good and his. But she didn't understand. She would eventually start to do things to make him jealous. Her heart was his.

Her resurrection had brought upon her many abilities besides seeing what others can't.
She had the ability to guide souls to the after life and free them from entrapment, though death had helped her with that mostly.
Death Sense: She has the ability to see when people will die, but not all people and only if it's a very near death (i.e they're going to die within a week or a within a year max)
Despair Manipulation: She could manipulate despair, depression, and hopelessness whether increasing, decreasing, causing or otherwise changing despair, even manifesting the emotional energy to physical level. Users of this power can make others feel hopeless even to the point of becoming suicidal or catatonic.
She can destroy evil souls or seal them.
And last, Darkness Manipulation: she can create, shape and manipulate darkness and shadows. By itself, darkness is mostly used to cloud everything into total darkness, but by accessing a dimension of dark energy it can be channeled to a variety of effects, both as an absence of light and a solid substance: one can also control and manipulate the beings that exist there, create and dispel shields and areas of total darkness, create constructs and weapons, teleport one's self through massive distances via shadows, etc.
of course she could only use that last one to a certain extent as she is still learning to control it and use it.
Nari has several million followers on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. She started out doing book reviews (her handle is honeyedwords), but she started gaining more of a following when she started doing fashion and make up content. She is different than most influencers in that genre because she is kind and authentic, and she's stayed that way her entire career. She's super generous with what she makes and donates a lot of it, or will randomly pay the tution or bills of one of her followers. She has also started being more vocal about political issues lately as she feels its her duty to speak out against injustice
Narie loves plants and flowers. She has a garden and lots of plants inside her home. If/when influencing is something that she either no longer wants to do or people are no longer into her content, she wants to open a flower shop.
Nari was raised by her grandparents, who had very, very high expectations for her growing up, and are confused about what she does now. They don't really understand how much money you can make as an influencer and will often get upset that she didn't stay in school for Engineering but her grandfather got a smart phone simply so he could watch her content, and he will like, comment, and share every single video she makes. Her grandmother will sometimes feature in her videos too. So they are warming up to the idea, they just want to make sure she is taken care of once they are gone.
The Yang family emigrated to Providence Peak many generations back and have always owned some form of ice cream shop in the town. It’s been passed down generation to generation and pretty much anyone in the family has worked there at least to some degree.
Nari is the youngest of two siblings, the second born of two sisters. Her sister is the one that took on the role of taking over the family business, so Nari was left to spread her wings a bit more.
Coming out of high school she had lofty dreams and goals and went to Denver to pursue a college education so she could become a veterinarian.
College was a bit of an awakening for her. After being raised in a pretty traditional household she was able to let loose and became a lil bit of a wild child.
Managed to slip her way through college anyway and after a long road of higher education she got her doctorate to work as a veterinarian.
Got a job at the local Denver zoo and has been there ever since. She works with any of the animals at the zoo, but big animals are her specialty. Bears are her favorite.
Even with her career she was never really settled and was definitely always a mess in her personal life.
Her sister on the other hand had a seemingly perfect life. She married her high school sweetheart, merged the ice cream shop with his family’s adult store business, and started a family with two young boys.
Everything got upended on a night out that ended in tragedy. Nari, her sister, and brother-in-law were involved in a terrible car crash where Nari was the only survivor.
She was faced with the shock of losing her closest family, getting saddled with the responsibility of two kids, and dealing with her own survivor’s guilt.
Nari tried to make it work with the boys in Denver, but realized very quickly that she barely takes care of herself, let alone two kids.
Moved back to Providence Peak just recently so she could be closer to her mom and dad, who are more than happy to help with the boys.
Nari still commutes over to Denver for work at the zoo when she can, but her hours have cut back a good bit to allow her to help with the boys and with the family business.
The current iteration of the family ice cream shop is called Lick Me Til...Ice Cream. On the front it’s a normal ice cream shop with Korean inspired flavors, but if you head into the back of the shop there’s a door that leads into an adult themed shop with booze-infused ice cream flavors, a wall of obscure sex toys and condom flavors, etc.
&& the wanted connections
connections from childhood; Nari grew up in Providence Peak, so she has plenty of room to have had friends, enemies, exes, etc. from her youth. She was pretty involved around the community and her family was always rather well known just from having the ice cream shop for so long.
parent friends; She has no idea what she’s doing with two boys, she has no parenting skills at all. The girl was living off of takeout her entire adult life, so she’s struggling okay.
recent ex; Would love to have an ex that was a hot mess of on and off again nonsense that ended up totally bailing on Nari after shit went down with her sister. Could be someone that lived in Denver or even someone from PP since she was over there all the time visiting family, etc.
bad influence; Someone that Nari can hit up whenever she gets overwhelmed and wants to blow off steam. Probably they do stupid shit and get themselves in trouble.
