I'm tired and got the start of a cold going on so no stream today but I figured I'd show off the progress I'm making on one of my indulgent art progects. I've been looking for an excuse to redesign the SG! version of Redstrike so *gestures at* there he is. He's more delicate and doesn't have car bits the way main-verse Red does. Plus I made him Magenta and kept him in the red-register of colors so it doesn't feel so weird that he's CALLED Redstrike but I think he's different enough to not be confused with the main-verse equivalent on the right there.

And yeah, it's a take on how they view themselves. Main-verse Redstrike is sexually confident and feels like a breaker of chains at his own expense (thus why his hand is around his double's throat). Meanwhile SG! Redstrike sees himself as a bound victim subject to the whims of those around him.

Highlights and finishing are next. I did this way faster than usual too so I might keep up the technique I used to speed through this.

Welp I finished the lineart on that idea I had that wouldn't leave me alone. So here's Redstrike and his Shattered Glass equivalent doing something scandalous together. Honestly this was kinda an analogy for how we view ourselves since SG! Redstrike views himself as a victim, always in bondage and in need of saving where as main-verse Redstrike views himself as sexually confident and a breaker of chains.

Well since you said you wanted to know more about Redstrike himself why don't I just go ahead and tell you a bit more about the AU I created for him to originate from?

So, the Revolt Au (as I call it and you can check specifically Revolt Au for more about the universe in my tags) not only has a new set of 13 primes to which Redstrike, Megatron, Optimus, and others belong to but there is also a group of what are, essentially, anti-primes called Nazir (since Nazir is the opposite of prime in Arabic).

The 13 Nazir were blessed by unicron and had extremely powerful artifacts of their own. Their aim was to resurrect Unicron, take his power and the power of the primes for themselves, and rule the universe with an iron fist. They could match the primes in strength and their artifacts made them deadly foes for them, but they were ultimately defeated. Out of the Nazir Redstrike is directly responsible for the deaths of 3 of them and assisted in the death of a fourth.

Overlord was one of the Nazir Redstrike took out. A particularly deadly enemy all on his own Overlord achieved power enough to defeat primes through the use of the Apex Armor which made him completely invulnerable. After the war with the Nazir was over the surviving members were entered into a rehabilitation program but Redstrike knew that Overlord would use the program as a cover to gain access to the primes and kill them. Starting with either Megatron or Optimus. So...Redstrike lowered Overlord's guard by seducing him and literally killed him with a kiss laced with his venom.

As gruesome as Overlord's death was, it still isn't anywhere near as bad as how Redstrike tricked Buzzclaw into dying. For that Redstrike simply handed over the Triptych Mask... And watched as it bit his head off.

I just had a sudden stroke of genius. I mean, alright, Redstrike is a prime who can mostly sorta see into the future. But he's also a writer and an artist so now I can't help but imagine him coming up to friends and lovers and asking fairly vague but mildly unsettling questions or... Just staring at them very intently for a good long while... And it's not clear if it's because he had a vision or if it's because he's working on some new piece.

I think the best part about the ‘sacrifice’ meme is that Redstrike is already literally considered a demi-god by his own universe’s standards. He just doesn’t seem like one until he becomes Caedis because he’s technically always running at one-third power and has like *gestures* just all the trauma.

But! Put him in a universe where he was raised as a Prime from the start? 100% he will act like the demi-god he is even at 1/3rd the power.

Okay! Details about the Coffeeshop/Deceptibucks au. 

- ‘Redstrike’ aka Caedis A. Prime is the son of Onyx Prime, an entrepreneur who runs Eukaris inc.

- The public knows Eukaris for one of two reasons. The first is a chain of highly rated, well-established, pet stores. And the second is high-end bdsm gear and supplies. These businesses directly overlap in the leash/collar department but no one talks about it.

- Onyx is a bit of a hippy and is apart a new age, semi-pagan, hindu offshoot relgion(cult) that is very sex-positive and believes that by developing your third eye you can literally see into the future. Onyx IS surprisingly intuitive which is why he’s done so well as a businessman despite this...sort of weird detail about him. 

-Yes Redstrike and his brothers were raised apart of this religion, they’re all fairly normal except for Redstrike who has some trauma due to a rather abusive nanny that raised him. As such he tends to try and act out. 

-Redstrike’s previous attempts to act out usually do not get the reaction he wants as Onyx is a very laid-back and accepting parent. So getting tattoos, piercings, growing out his hair, taking pole dancing lessons, and sleeping around has generally resulted in nothing but love and support. Which is fine...but Redstrike would prefer a little punishment dad. 

- Onyx is in a close-knit group of other Industry Leaders (or Primes of Industry) who basically run Iacon city. The ‘Primes’ all have their heirs, more than a few of them are related to each other, and the 12 heirs usually get together for monthly destress, venting/bitching sessions. Redstrike is considered the wild-child out of this group but the other 12 understand where he’s coming from and like him just as he is.

-Redstrike applied to Deceptibucks on a whim after getting a look at Megatron and the ‘Help Wanted’ sign in the window of the shop that sits outside of one of his dad’s sex shops. He used his nickname and a few other fake details to get the job. He may have also brought in a basket full of mind-meltingly good banana-nut muffins to prove how good he was. 

-Redstrike definitely gets into bitchy back and forths with HR about his clothing choices. 

-Codeblue and Redstrike met when Redstrike was in recovery for one of his (several) chronic medical issues. They hit it off and now meet up for tea and/or drinks three times a week. They’re best friends and Codeblue also admits to having a slight crush on Redstrike’s boss. 

-Redstrike is in his early thirties but looks younger due to his perpetual baby face and insistence that YES TARN he has to wear makeup.

- Deceptibucks HR department is headed by a fairly strict group very dedicated to the CEO's (Megatron's) vision. Privately they're known as the DJD (or Deceptibucks Justice Division). Tarn is the HR head and does in fact have a LIST of problematic employees. If you're on the list you're usually pretty close to being fired.
