~Vanitas verse~

First point, this is a different Vanitas verse than the one where my Kanata is another escapee from Dr. Moreau’s lab - and consequentially Vanitas and Misha’s ‘brother’. This verse is the one I share with @chibskimuses, where our cast is made up of mostly Enstars characters ^-^ OKAY HERE WE GO, a short presentation:

Name: Rinne Amagi

Race: Augmented human infused with cells from Vanitas of the Blue Moon

Age: 26

Growing up together with his little brother Hiiro, Rinne’s first years were relatively sheltered. His was a family of Romani traveling around France, trying their best to make a living performing circus acts and doing fortune telling, while trying to stay under the radar as best as they could.

One day when Rinne was in his mid teens, or there about, he did come on someone’s radar - he had been performing a series of gambling scams using some fake dice and sleight of hand... But he got caught, unfortunately, and was locked away, awaiting trial. However, before he could be brought to court, a mysterious man who simply called himself ‘Gatekeeper’ got his hands on the boy. Gatekeeper was a scientist who conducted a series of horrific and inhumane experiments on Rinne in an attempt of turning the boy into a vampire.

He wasn’t the only child there, and eventually even his younger brother Hiiro showed up in the laboratory. Every day was more hellish than the other, but eventually they were saved by none other than their ‘father’, the Vampire of the Blue Moon themselves; Vanitas. Vanitas Marked them and granted them each a sliver of their power, enabling the brothers to make use of the Book of Vanitas. Tragedy struck eventually and one fateful night, Rinne killed the Vampire of the Blue Moon.

After that, he has been separated from Hiiro, and he makes a living purifying vampires of their Malnomen. During his travels, he came upon a certain Niki Archiviste Shiina, and he’s feeling strangely drawn toward the overly cheerful vampire, and thus... He’s decided to stick around. For now.

Name: Leo Tsukinaga

Race: Vampire (Curse bearer)

Age: 18 †

Leo was the oldest of a set of triplets, his younger brothers being the identical Hinata and Yuuta. In old vampire lore it was said that triplets were bad luck and that they cursed their mother, if not their whole family, so Leo was separated from Hinata and Yuuta and put in exile in one of the family estates. He and his brothers grew up believing that Leo was one year older than the ‘twins’ and that he was being kept away for his own safety, as it was said that he was very ‘sickly’.

Sickly, he was not. A curse bearer though? That he was, and it grew worse and worse as the years passed by. Until, one day, he snapped, the curse taking full control of him. He was killed then, by ‘Godfather’, the brothers’ great-something-grandfather (or so he claimed.) right in front the eyes of his childhood friend Niki and his two younger brothers.

Name: Hinata Tsukinaga

Race: Vampire

Age: 24 (perceived age 18)

Hinata is the middle brother and the older one of the identical twins in the Tsukinaga family. Generally cheerful and outgoing - but with some deeply rooted insecurities underneath - he tries to bring a smile to the people around him whenever he can. He, along with his brother Yuuta, is understandably traumatized after seeing their older brother be beheaded right in front of them, but if it’s something Hinata’s good at, it’s ignoring his own feelings whenever possible. (Until they come crashing down on him.)

Hinata is extremely talented when it comes to steam engines and astermite powered equipment and works as an inventor in Altus Paris.

Name: Yuuta Tsukinaga

Race: Vampire

Age: 24 (perceived age 18)

Yuuta is the youngest Tsukinaga brother, a young man that’s quick to crack a joke or two but who hides steel underneath his smile. He’s a prominent member of the Royal Guard, a skilled swordsman who’s serving closely under the Grand Duke Tori. The traumatic event where his brother was killed right in front of him unlocked something dark deep within Yuuta, and he wants nothing more than to hunt down the man who did this, their so-called great grandfather, and put him to the sword. No matter the cost. Partially because he feels so very guilty that he didn’t see that something was wrong in the first place, that he couldn’t help.

Name: Madara Mikejima

Race: Vampire (Curse bearer - the Purple Beast of Gévaudan)

Age: 32 (Perceived age 20)

Madara wasn’t born a vampire. Born from two human parents, he grew up in a poor hunter’s cottage under the strict hand of his father. As a small child he heard tales of the Blue Witch who lived in the castle, and he found the stories so very fascinating. No one had ever seen her... (Or him?) but Madara hoped that he would some day.

Well, eventually he was turned into a vampire, and that was when his father’s strict ways changed to downright abusive, severely so. After one particularly gruesome incident, Madara was left for dead at the edge of a lake close to the castle, and that was when he found him. Kanata Shinkai, the Blue Witch.

Since then, Madara was utterly devoted to Kanata, wanting to learn everything about him, wanting to protect him. He willingly gave his True Name over to Naenia, thus giving rise to his Malnomen form, the Purple Beast. As the Beast he slayed anyone and everyone who threatened Kanata, never having any regrets over what he had done.

But for how long could he keep this a secret from him...?

Name: Ibara Saegusa

Race: Human

Age: 24

Ibara’s childhood was relatively normal. He grew up in a relatively wealthy household as an only child. His only playmate was the butler’s son Yuzuru, and they had a love-hate relationship going on most of the time.

Those peaceful days wouldn’t last however. One day a group of vampires attacked the mansion where they lived, killing all the adults they happened upon. The children, Ibara and Yuzuru, were ‘spared’... But many where the times when Ibara wished they would have killed them as well. But they didn’t. Instead, they kept the children alive, feeding on them whenever they pleased, making a game out of it to see how much blood they could take from then before they passed out. Again and again.

Everything could have ended there, if not for a group of Chasseurs, led by Nagisa Ran, finding the vampires’ hideout and exterminating them. By then, Yuzuru was nowhere to be found and Ibara’s body was marked all over by the vampires. He was very weak, his full recovery taking years, but eventually he was strong and he joined the Chasseurs, vowing revenge on all vampires in existence.
