Lots of things!! She’s a generally happy person, so here’s a few:

1. Her friends being happy

2. Her friends being confident!! Omg such a big one. She feels like a proud mom when her friends can be like ‘yes I feel cute look at meee.’

Obviously Rita believes in ghosts, she doesn’t think that Peeves is a hologram. But, she doesn’t believe in aliens and things like that, all she believes in is the things they learn about in the textbooks. She’s a very science-based person. She goes, “give me evidence that an Alien exists and I’ll go along with it.” Probably a result of her face always being stuck in a textbook, besides when she’s spreading rumors. The funny thing is she doesn’t need too much evidence to say that a rumor is true.

So, fairly ironic but also makes a lot of sense... Rita’s biggest fear is all her secrets being exposed?? Or at least the important ones, the ones that could ruin her reputation. The things that could make everyone hate her or get her in really bad trouble. That’s part of why she gossips and spreads rumors so much, hoping that if she was the one who spread the information, no one would actually try to dig things up about her. It’s all a large distraction to keep her safe.

Rita’s heart will always be with New York. Maybe not the pretty, touristy part you see on the scenery porn shots on movies and TV but still. The nitty, gritty and not-so pretty parts are the parts that she built a home of herself in. It’s where she found her family and she knows it like she knows herself. Of course, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t looked up at the pretty lights and far off buildings and thought wow, imagine that.

She has literally zero time for people who don’t understand there is a whole world outside of their privileged little bubble. She’s never been very good at biting her tongue and it has at times gotten her into trouble but… ‘Fight me’ replaced ‘sue me’ and she has no money but plenty of fists and is always ready to fight. Small and ready to fight.

Part of her doesn’t want to get too attached to Walt. It’s beautiful, it has everything she could ever need and the courses she’s taking are more than she could imagine. It’s hard work and stimulating and dangerous because everyone knows that once you love something, you can lose it. She’s terrified this opportunity is going to be pulled out from under her. That’ll she’ll wake up one day from this dream and realize of course, it was all a lie.

Dancing makes her feel alive. It’s the one thing she can get completely caught up in, the one place she can be truly vulnerable and there’s something beautiful and terrifying about that. Plus, she’s really good at it. She’s got the passion, work ethic and mix between ego and self-deprecation needed to keep her going. She could be great, she will be great. She will.

The gang are her whole heart. She loves them all so much and doesn’t give a damn if she’s too attached because she’d never let anything happen to them. They’re the only family she’s ever wanted to know. Her life, her past started when she found Dodger and she hasn’t looked back since. The only way she’d have felt truly right about coming to Walt was if they came with the package.
