What's the worst thing that could happen to Triflio and Shrane?
[Answering as myself mostly so Trifio's will be easily legible]
For Shrane the worst thing that could happen would be going back to what he'd first been asked to do for the Fleet. Being reduced to nothing but a grunt soldier and being sent into planets they plan to colonise and slaughtering anything that stood in the empires way. Being reeducated, his brain rewired so he lost all sense of self and no longer cared for the things he loves.

Alternatively (A second option for him because I think you're neat):
Having what happened to his last ship happen to his current crew... Being boarded and watching all of the people he cared about be slain while he stood there frozen and unable to move... Being spared just to act as Witness to what happened and to convey the message back to the Fleet. Being stranded for who knows how long having to stare at the blood on his hands while he screamed at himself for not doing more. The helplessness.
The one thing Trifio dreads most is the idea that one day he will lose control. There is always a quiet buzzing in the back of his mind, the sound of his powers humming at all times, never quieting. Some days the buzzing grows so loud he feels like he'll go berserk but he always manages to distract himself enough to keep from exploding... But he's always worried one day will be just bad enough, that the buzzing will grow so loud that it pushes him over the edge and he destroys the people he loves. He's terrified of that day.
I want you to look at him and tell me he seems like someone who is good with his money. The millisecond money touches his hand he's spending that shit. It's honestly a wonder he can manage to pay bills/remember to save enough money for food.

He's definitely more serious in the moment but if he ever had a pale relationship that had some letting off steam moments he'd be a bit more relaxed and goofy. Plus those little breathless laughs are kind of intoxicating
Trifio is super confident and outgoing until he's surrounded by tall trolls then he gets all flustered and forgets how to form sentences that make sense because he's focusing too hard on seeming cool to actually succeed
