BIOGRAPHY:
From the day he was born Liam Alexander always had a flair for the dramatic. Always one to make an entrance Liam’s mom went into labor right there in the middle of the mommy and me story time she had been leading at the library where she worked. Although Liam never really knew his dad, having passed away in a car accident when he was very young, his mom always worked hard to make sure he never felt like he was missing out on anything by not having one. As he grew up he never felt anything but loved, accepted, and understood by his mom for exactly who he was, something he tried never to take for granted because he knew it was not something everyone could say, especially people who grew up as obviously fabulous as Liam.
Even as a child Liam knew he was destined to be a performer, always singing and dancing around the house and acting out scenes from his favorite movies. One of Liam’s favorite childhood memories was the time his mom took him to see Wicked for his seventh birthday. Liam was mesmerized watching the actors on stage and instantly knew that was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Liam jumped at every opportunity to perform that he could get. It was during an elementary school production of Annie that Liam met the girl who would become his best friend, Maia Chen. He was playing Daddy Warbucks of course, complete with child-sized bald cap and she was playing Sandy the dog but their artistic souls were instantly drawn to one another and the pair have been inseparable ever since. As they got older Liam was constantly dragging Maia into Manhattan to see shows any chance he got, and she returned the favor by taking him to the Met more times than he could count. Maia had even brought Liam with her to visit her Grandma in Cypress Cove on quite a few occasions over the years, he always thought it was nice for a visit but Liam was decidedly a city boy and he certainly could never see himself living there.
Liam’s talent and his dedication to his craft led to him being offered a scholarship to the Julliard school of drama, an offer he eagerly accepted. By the time Liam graduated Julliard he had his fair share of professional credits under his belt and was on his way to becoming a rising star in the theatre world. And then in an instant everything changed. His mom had been uncharacteristically tired for a few weeks and Liam urged her to go in and get checked out just in case. After a fair amount of resistance and insistence that she was fine she finally relented and went to the doctor where after a seemingly never-ending series of tests and scans she was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. Liam felt like his whole world was falling down around him, this was his mom after all, he’d always thought she was invincible. Liam dropped everything to spend as much time with her as he could, taking her to all of her appointments and taking care of her while she tried to fight it but it was too late. For the first time Liam had to navigate life without his biggest supporter behind him. At least he and Maia still had each other. They leaned on each other more now than ever as they learned how to navigate their new realities and their grief together but he still felt like he had no sense of direction. Liam felt completely lost and uninspired without his mom there to guide and anchor him. So, when Maia invited him to join her in Cypress Cove he jumped at the invitation. It wasn’t normally his kind of scene but maybe it would be the change he needed to bring some much-needed inspiration and passion back into his life.
