“How did you decide to have this many kids?! I want a big family, but I am worried because... {insert a reason}. How did you find the reassurance that it’s going to be ok?” . I didn’t. Well, I did now, but not 15 years ago. I was always under the impression that I belong to a category “one-and-done” or “two are a BIG company”. My husband talked about a large family, and I absolutely supported his wishes. For as long as he was the one carrying, birthing and breastfeeding the babies. But in my mind I shifted to a possibility of three kids: two close together, right now, and one - later, when we are older, established, somewhere in my mid/late 30s. . Long story short, Yeva was born a lot sooner when late 30s, and changed my world of perception. I saw completely different dynamics, and the aura of love and indescribable energy became a part of my daily life. New life. Life I never new existed. Life I could never imagine until then. Three had their own challenge, but in many ways it has become easier. . Fast-forward to today, with Elisey being 7th. I can’t imagine my life without either one of them. That said, there was never a “number” reach. Ever. We were just as happy with 3 as we were with 5, and now with 7. We took a “one at a time” approach, IF and when the time felt right. . There is no one answer to “how do you know the time is right”. You just do. Some of it is logic and planning. Some - the inner gut, if you will, that makes no sense at times, but looking back you see how perfectly perfect was the timing of your choice. . I also know one thing: no matter how perfect the timing was, and how planned-planned the baby was, every time I saw a very wanted + on the test, my heart skipped and I had a “omg! am I ready?!” moment for a second. Even the 7th time around. . How did you decide to have a baby? Did you feel ready? .
