BACKSTORY

Ever since he was a little kid, Raymond Forde knew he was capable of great things. Even if the world did its best to convince him otherwise, Raymond believed that anything was possible with hard work and a positive outlook. Naive? Maybe. But Raymond was determined to prove himself at any opportunity. It just so happened that his ambitions led him to politics.

Inspired by the ascendant presidential candidate Barack Obama in the lead-up to the 2008 election, Raymond ran for student body president of his high school. It seemed like a long shot at the time; Raymond was only a sophomore at this point, and an underclassman had never won the position. But much like his political role model, Raymond defied the odds and won. This taste of glory set Raymond on course for his ultimate goal in life: the White House. Maybe he wouldn’t be the first POTUS of African-American descent, but he would’ve gladly accepted being the second, or even third.

After graduating from college with a degree in political science and a minor in journalism, Raymond spent a few years networking and helping run political campaigns before accepting an offer to work for the Mayor of San Francisco as his secretary. It didn’t take long for him for fall in love the the small —but lovely— neighborhood of The Castro, where he finally felt like he could finally be completely himself, even in the cutthroat world of politics.

Secretary today, mayor tomorrow, president after that… Raymond Forde knows where he’s going, and it won’t take him long to get there.

OTHER INFORMATION

Raymond didn’t come out until moving to SF six years ago, and although he’s comfortable disclosing his sexuality now, he still prefers not to offer that information if it’s not especially relevant to an exchange.

Raymond comes from an upper-middle class family and is of mixed-race background, which he is slightly embarrassed about. He thinks it makes him seem privileged and “inauthentic” in regards to his political aspirations. Unfortunately he does have neoliberal values so those criticisms are warranted, just not for the reasons he thinks.

Raymond is sexually versatile, with a slight preference to top, and he isn’t especially dominant or submissive with his partners. His dynamic in bed ultimately depends on who he’s with and what they want from him. True people pleaser!

Raymond has never truly had a “boyfriend” and is ashamed of it. His longest relationship was with a girl in high school he mostly strung along as a beard to help him present as straight. She was not aware of this.
