About Tobias
Tobias Felix [Twisted Fate]
POB: Serpentine Delta Family: Grandfather (deceased), Aunt (unknown) Magic type: “cartomancy” (short-range probability manipulation) Favorite card: Jack of hearts~
Bio: Born to the river clan of the Serpentine Delta, Felix grows up a nomad and an outcast. His people peddle strange goods up and down the river, mostly shunned when they aren’t offering their wares. The seed of resentment is planted early in the young man’s heart and he feels no remorse learning and mastering the ways of various gambling dens. Each game is easier than the last and he feels he has finally found his calling. One fateful night, however, the young man’s arrogance and lack of sense (sometimes, you do need to take an L) come back to bite him in the form of a few drunken men he had very successfully swindled. His retreat is hasty and silent as he leaves his people to suffer the consequences of his actions. Returning with the dawn, he finds their camp ravaged and not a single soul willing to forgive what he had done. His own family doesn’t even dare stand in his defense and they leave him on the riverbank with only his grandfather’s old card deck to his name. He grows to manhood on the streets of various coastal and riverside cities, earning a living conning and swindling and gambling the very shirts off the backs of the arrogant and cruel, always allowing a few lost hands to avoid a repeat of the first incident. He is homeless, friendless, and ruthless, but certainly not helpless, more than able to keep himself relatively comfortable, all things considered, trusting no one, a tactic he has learned the hard way. It is among these rogues with whom he is not friends, ironically, that he makes the acquaintance of one Malcolm Graves, fellow swindler, shill, and all around outlaw. Together, they loot, con, and otherwise extort people up and down the coast. A heist gone wrong separates the pair and, despite his best efforts, Felix cannot spring Graves. He departs, making himself scarce and discarding the name of his birth, both for protection and as a symbol of a new leaf—not one of honesty, but a more profitable one. The name he takes reflects the magic with which he was born, that of probability, of chance, and the ability to twist fate.
Appearance: Tall and slender, manicured beard and long, chestnut hair. He is usually dressed in bright silks and velvets and satins, finely-dyed leather, and other accessories that tell of ill-gotten gains—never without his favorite hat.
Personality: Easygoing, slow of speech for maximum charm, TF is a quick thinker with a silver tongue who can talk his way out of anything and is absolutely not shy about doing so.
