Brabrabra is a 3 piece band from Berlin, Germany. "Danger! Danger! Danger!" is their first release in 6 years and 9 years since their "Mango" cassette. All of their releases have come via Kitchen Leg Records. However, I should remind you that Oakland based label Absolutely Kosher has released "Mango" and the 7" "Lagoona" as "Mangoona" on LP.

We first posted about Brabrabra back in 2015, and honestly, "Mango" has provided me with so much enjoyment since then. I've already listened to "Danger! Danger! Danger!" three times through. It immediately calls to mind bands like Electrelane and Look Blue Go Purple. The new album is less minimal than their earlier work, but I think mentioning Young Marble Giants and Deep Time is still a good idea.

13. Sunset Rubdown - Shut Up I Am Dreaming of Places Where Lovers Have Wings (Absolutely Kosher, 2006)

Listen if you like: Wolf Parade, Glam Rock, Arcade Fire, Frog Eyes, Indie rock from Canada

Sunset Rubdown was Spencer Krug’s solo project (from Wolf Parade) for the two first albums (who are great by the way if you like lo-fi weirdness), but for his third album he turned Sunset Rubdown into a band and then made this masterpiece of an album. 

Whereas in Wolf Parade you get the combination of the straightforward sound of Chad Broeckner and the emotional layers of Spencer Krug, Sunset Rubdown is all emotion. It has an Arcade Fire vibe to it (Think ‘Funeral’), but this stuff is even better. 

This kind of music was completely my thing in 2006, and 12 years later I still can get overexcited listening to it again.

324. Frog Eyes - Tears of The Valedictorian (Absolutely Kosher, 2007) 

Listen if you like: neurotic indie rock, Sunset Rubdown, Wolf Parade, Animal Collective

Around 2007, Absolutely Kosher was one of my favourite record labels, with bands like Sunset Rubdown, Pinback and this one: Frog Eyes. 

Front guy Casey Mercer sounds like Zed from Police Academy and I guess you could make someone crazy by listening to Frog Eyes for a couple of hours, but if you need an emotional energy boost, this music does it for me.
