A few thoughts on the whole FOB ordeal
There is not much more that needs to be said about everything that has happened in the last two weeks with Fall Out Boy, but it has been a period when many people showed their true colors. Conversations became debates, friends questioned people they would otherwise ask for information without hesitation, and at the end of the day it still came down to four guys from Chicago speaking for themselves.
I spoke with Zack throughout the day of his original announcement, and we spent the majority of our time talking in the days that followed planning how we can better organize our efforts with AbsoluteVoices moving forward. While others debated whether or not we were reporting the truth, we began planning our Spring and Summer exclusives.
As a writer, nothing compares to the feeling when you know you've landed on an exclusive, and Zack hit the jackpot with his FOB story. It's his first big news tip, and it's exciting to see his growth over the last few years. He's a good friend and he's going to do great things.
