#childhoodart - It was 1997 and I was 13. I was in 6th or 7th grade and I was aggressively collecting #AbsolutVodkaads. I still have a couple large binders full of them. It was a crazy hunt and I wasn't the only kid in middle school hooked on finding all the charmingly clever, impeccably art directed ads. ("Got Milk" was also popular, but not nearly hot as #Absolut - I only collected Milk to trade for Absolut.) Inspired by the "Absolut Artists" series that included everyone from Keith Herring to pioneers of CGI, I made my own entry. Woah, THE 90s - AMIRITE?! But also, it's a pretty good encapsulation of my visual identity then as well as themes that are ever-reoccurring in my work: *Surreal environments where nature and architecture coalesce in dreamy scenes that may include ruins, technology, or all of the above. *Felines. *Conceptual continuity. *Odd pop culture references or influences. I mean... Despite how much evolution and how many years are put between me and this piece, those four bullet points still encompass a lot of my material - no matter the medium. So... good job kid! #absolutvodka #absolutartists #surreal #illustration #90sart #anthropomorphic #furry #standingstones #absolutcurrant #absolutpeppar #absolutlimon https://www.instagram.com/p/BwqWVdbABDn/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ctajds4qa00h
