So I was just watching a video about infinities and that was confusing but what I gather is that infinity is infinity it isn’t a number but more so a size? An immeasurable size? Because a size has a beginning and an end where as infinity has no beginning or end? But it is still used as a term to measure the size of something maybe to measure the immeasurable? But anyways I saw in one of the comments someone said, loosely, “So if you can split the space between 0 and 1 infinitely into decimals then you can do that with time from 0 seconds to 1 second meaning we live forever” well I say that makes sense to me, it isn’t possible to count that space between 0 and 1, because if you try to identify the first decimal you will fail because well lets try 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000 etcetera etcetera, I could go on, well forever, and never have to choose where to put my 1 because I wouldn’t be right to say that that is the start of a series of numbers that would eventually lead me to the whole number 1. Then I remembered what seconds really are. The human second is based off of the oscillation of atoms or more simply put the amount of times an atom of any given element vibrates per second, of course every different atom has a different vibration. These vibrations are measured in ticks. Cesium ticks 9 billion times(roughly) in a second or in order to make sense of it better cesium must tick 9 billion times before a full second has passed. But still, how does that work? How does one know when to start counting ticks? Atoms are vibrating constantly they don't take breaks to let you know when a second starts or stops. And again going back to infinities how does one fully count ticks? if there is an infinite amount of decimals between 0 ticks and 1 tick of a cesium atom. More complexities with infinities is if there is an infinite amount of space between 0 and 1 why not an infinite amount of space between two atoms? our entire universe could be an infinity between two atoms that make up the cell of some larger being. Of course there are theories saying that energy is not infinite and that is why one day the universe will implode but that is just a theory. theories are disproven and revised all the time.
