The Other and The Strangler
I need the Other to fall in love. I divide myself into two and I let the one shout at the other. It turns into screaming and still nothing happens. And then it becomes desperate.
That is the scary thing about becoming desperate is that you will do anything, anything to satisfy whatever made you desperate. The one has got the other by the neck, slowly digging his fingers into the Others windpipe. The Other has got the Stranglers eyes, they both see the same thing, but he pushes them back into the Strangler.
Blood oozes out the corners of the Stranglers eyes, dripping onto the his arms then dripping onto the floor. Still no one stops because they both have the same amount of desperation. They are the same person - they are the same soul divided into two with the hopes to fall in love.
Now it is a mess, a literal bloody fuckup. You’re never going to escape if you keep trying to kill the other. Suddenly the Others fingers - that are squeezing the Strangers eyes and that the blood is dripping onto the floor - they fall right through, right through the Stranglers head and the Strangler falls to the floor just like the Other does. They both lie on the floor, the Other clutching his windpipe and the Strangler clutching his bloody eyes.
The Strangler then blinks. He looks at the florescent light above his head. His working ears can hear their mundane hum. Hum. Hum. Through the red sheet of blood and veins that cover his eyes he makes out some writing on the light above him. The letters slowly come together. Buzzing and humming as they do so, buzz. Then a word is created, it is a sign. Through his bloody eyes he sees a sign.
But we must not forget about the Other lying on the floor choking. He is just as important, because like I said they are the same person. The Other gasps and gasps, he thinks that he is going to die. Gasp, gasp, gasp. He hopes that he is going to live, in fact he is desperate to live we know that because he was poking out the Stranglers eyeballs and making blood ooze out so that it dripped onto his arm. He is still gasping for air.
The Strangler looks over at the Other with his bloody eyes, he gets up and walks over to the Other. He stands right over his gasping body and the blood that is oozing out his eyes drips onto the Others head. It creates some interesting contrasts as the Other has pale white skin. It looks like blood in the sky on a cold white day.
In fact, you wouldn’t believe it. As the second drop leaves the Stranglers eyes and falls onto the Others face, the Others face becomes the sky. And this is how the story ends: the sky becomes the breath that the Other was so desperate for, he gasps it in finally. You can hear his breath loud and clear. It is so pure too, like the first one a baby would take in the world.
The Others chest goes up and down, up and down. The Strangler drops down to the floor next to the other. The only thing you can now hear is the buzz of the florescent light bulb and the breathing of the Other. They are both content. They lie there and look at the letters on the bulb trying to make out what the sign means. They contemplate. They are a mind. They are a contemplating contemplation. They can do no other than contemplate in all their outrageous futility.
