When you have nothing going on it’s amazing how simple moments make you feel better:

hitting a shot I didn’t know I could

making a move on someone new

finding a good song

finding a good conversation.

Nights never really got cold there. You would put a hoodie on or something but you were never really cold. That night I had a hoodie on. Parked my car in the garage, that type of garage that you hate to have to park in but you don’t have to parallel park once you’re there so it’s fine.

My buddy was already at the Iguana. “I’ll be outside smoking. You’ll see it,” he had texted me. As we moved around the city, our fingers burned from the smell of weed and cigarettes, we ended up at this nice jazz spot. Not a club but also not a bar, a great place to get drunk though.

The vibes were exactly what you’d expect them to be. Maybe better. The guy playing the winds made a crack about Jewish people and everyone “laughed”. As we finished the first round a lady from the bar shot us with a glance. I didn’t expect her to be what she was but…
