Abu Salem sentenced 7 years in jail 2002 extortion case

The Tis Hazari Court in Delhi sentenced criminal Abu Salem to seven years in prison for asking Rs 5 crore as ransom cash from a Delhi-based businessman. Abu Salem had asked cash from a Delhi-based businessman and said to kill his relatives if the money was not paid. Salem had been convicted under Section 387 and Section 506 of Indian Penal Code in the 2002 extortion case.
