Beagle Coconut was his precious baby who could do no wrong, and Phainon stood by that. Even if he sometimes bit at Phainon’s ankles, or tried to wield his greatsword, or ate all of Phainon’s snacks, Beagle Coconut was his baby and could do no wrong. Except… The Incidents. The end result of The Incidents was something he would have never predicted, but still. The Incidents. (But still…Beagle Coconut was his baby who could do no wrong… He just also happened to be a very naughty baby chimera, that’s all.) --- A 5+1 (+1) fic of the five times Beagle Coconut stole clothing from an unknown person to give to Phainon and the one time Phainon found out who is was. (And then the one time where something of his got stolen.) Or---the phainaxa getting together fic except it's done by the menace to society known as Beagle Coconut.

Or well, that is the summation she tells him, her voice delicate but haunting. But he is not a fool nor is he unlearned—he knows that story. Knows every detail, knows every variation. Knows some scholars say three seeds, some say six. He knows that the goddess’s abduction led to a great change in the world, led on by a mother’s angst and the curse of eating from the realm of the dead. (But he did not kidnap him…merely challenged that sharp smirk and soft eyes. He did not trick him, nor did he keep him captive. But he knows that that is not the point of why Castorice tells him this story. He also knows that this was more than likely not an idea she had on her own, but by another with golden threads, worried about the fate of them all.) ☼☾ Or, Mydei, Phainon, and a rather vague retelling of Persephone and the pomegranate and what follows after...

chimera mornings

Mydei has a set morning routine that he follows every morning. From three quints after curtain-fall hour to just shy of the first quint of entry hour, he goes about the parts of routine that only involve him—waking, a small workout, showering, shaving, reading. Meditating has been added to that list now that the Coreflame of Strife resides within him, but it varies on the day if he does it by himself or with another. That part of his day is calm and organized. There are no delays or changes, everything is done as planned. However, just before the bell tolls for the first quint of entry hour, that is when his routine becomes…varied. Like a recipe that’s always being changed to suit the baker’s tastes. And in this little apartment, there are three main ingredients—one scholar and their two cubs. --- Or: a morning with Mydei, Anaxa, and their cubs. Soft, fuzzy, and a little angsty.

When Phainon asks him, they are laying in their bed with Beagle Coconut and Nanus curled up by their feet. The grey chimera is laying right on top of the mint one, gnawing at his ear without an ounce of shame. Nanus had long since gotten used to Beagle Coconut’s insistence on being on top of him and biting him all the time, so the chimera doesn’t even bat an eye when Beagle Coconut moves to his other ear. When Phainon asks him, he’s reading over Anaxa’s shoulder the professor’s lesson plans for the upcoming semester. When Phainon of Aedes Elysiae asks Anaxagoras the Blasphemer to marry him, Anaxa merely hums and crosses through a word with his red quill. Then, the scroll and the quill are set aside and Anaxa gently places his fingers on Phainon’s chin to pull him closer, whispering his answer against Phainon’s lips. ☼ ☆ The wedding of the the last Titan of Worldbearing married the last Titan of Reason. The wedding of Khaslana and Anaxagoras... ...and what happens after.

“Sweetheart, neither of us wants you to leave. We aren’t going to leave you over this; why would you think such a thing?” It’s a question he doesn’t expect an answer to because he knows. Phainon is so scared of losing people, yet thinks people will leave him. “And, my sweet pup, you are good. I don’t know who told you that, who put those words in your head, but neither of us thinks you are bad. I certainly don’t. Maybe a little bratty at times, a little nosy, but you are so good, Phainon.” “I…but…” “No buts Phainon. We had a feeling one day you would try to come with us, so that’s why Anaxagoras and I talked ahead of time. It’s not your fault, Phainon, for wanting to be a part of this, but for your safety, you can’t. Neither of us wants to see you in that dark place again. It’s not a slight on you, Phainon. It’s to protect you. Please believe us, love.” ☼☾☆ Phainon knows they love him, knows they care for him, but sometimes...sometimes he makes mistakes. Sometimes they are little, like not knowing left from right, and sometimes...sometimes they are big mistakes. But...they forgive him, they are there for him. Sometimes, it's just the stress that gets to him...sometimes it just too much...

I would not have scheduled my visit if I had known you would be busy with celebration.” Screwllum hums at the observation, nodding to a couple holding hands that pass him. “Ah, yes. It is a newer affair, less than six hundred years old. The one they are currently celebrating is one of the oldest holidays that is on our calendar. It is called “Festival of Lights”. A sightseeing and gift-giving holiday.” “I see.” Dr. Ratio nods and Screwllum can see his brow furrowing. They walk a few more paces before Dr. Ratio stops walking. “What do you mean by ‘they’ celebrate?” --- Screwllum, holidays, and changes. (Perhaps, in the future, he won't spend them along, in self-imposed isolation.)

“Mydei nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Don’t look!” Phainon lunges for him and in his shock at the dozens of him, Phainon is able to bring him down to the floor. The motion creates a breeze and sends the cards flying in every direction. Phainon cries out and tries to catch them, elbowing Mydei in the collarbone as he does. Mydei grunts and rolls onto his side to catch his breath when he feels something under his hand. It’s a tiny card of him, wearing a black reverse bunny suit and bunny ears on his head. It crumples in his hand. --- Or: the supposed crack fic about Phainon coming back from a convention with dozens of Mydei photocards that somehow ended up with a slightly angsty plot line and Mydei ending up with his own small collection of Phainon photocards. (Except it's not really them, but characters from a game that were inspired by them.)

For They have always been selfish. They have always wanted to know everything and nothing. There should be not a spec of this universe that THEY, that They, do not know. And with that knowledge, They ask Their questions and expect answers. Answers. Answers. More knowledge means more questions which means more answers. The never-ending cycle of Erudition. Learn ask learn ask learn ask. Question answer question answer question answer. Success failure success failure success. Which is why, as They watch Dr. Veritas Ratio (Mythus? Are you Mythus? Answer me, are you Mythus? Why will you not answer me?) gently coil another wire to place on their shared bed, They once again acknowledge that They can only have Dr. Veritas Ratio like this. Dr. Ratio will never be a Genius who answers THEIR questions. But Veritas will always answer his (Their) questions, even when he finds them odd.
