Hyperfixating on a niche/unpopular franchise is borderline hellish, because I really hate that people only know D4dj for like 2 old memes and a controversy with ai art usage when D4dj has such good card art, characters, gameplay and music (both original and covers) and there's also an anime with like really good 3d animation but there's barely any traction for it in the west and the game/ip is mismanaged to hell and back 😭

For starters when donuts (the devs) gained full ownership of the IP most of the franchise went to absolute shit, most of the tracklist got pulled for licensing reasons but the way they handled it was so confusing - for some reason most of the songs that got pulled only affected the en server and yet most of those songs are still on the jp server, but at the same time some of the songs that got pulled of both servers were original songs, one of which, wow war tonight, was A REALLY IMPORTANT SONG IN THE LORE SINCE THAT WAS THE SONG THAT RINKU AND MAHO BONDED OVER WHEN THEY FIRST MET WHICH KICK STARTED THE CREATION OF HAPPY AROUND!

they also just recently implemented charts which require 3 or more fingers to play like in pjsk or enstars but for some reason you have to pay another seperate in game currency to acsses them and you only have acsses to the chart for 24 hours and the hit detection for it sucks! 😭

And you know that anime I talked about earlier? After/around the time donuts gained full control of the IP, the anime didn't get a dub for its 2nd season and it never went past the formation of rondo, merm4id and lyrical lily, which means that we will NEVER get a season 3,which means no abyssmare or unichord in the anime, which means no xross beats adaptation, which is a really plot important arc in the game 😭

Also they seem to have a favouritism problem when creating new units, because for some reason despite a bad cynic doggo being considered a side unit, it's the only side unit with a step up challenge (think challenge shows in pjsk) the only side unit to have their own category in song filters, and the only side unit to get a cover with all 4 members, being bling bang bang born from mashle. The only other side unit in the game, call of artemis has more songs than a bad cynic doggo and yet they are yet to get a step up challenge, their own category in song filters and a cover with all 4 members 🫩

Also the amount of vas that get recast is borderline insane for an idol franchise, some make sense like reis and chisas since they're on personal terms, but egoegg, YOUR NEWEST UNIT AND A MAIN UNIT MIND YOU! had THREE of the 4 vas get recast like if it's personal reasons then that makes sense but stop making units for a while if you're unable to keep most of them 😭

Anyway play D4dj it's really fun, maho, shinobu, rinku and lumina are best girls can't wait for egoegg to be in the game officially as a main unit soon yippee! 😍
