Hello!! Re: ask game—curious about AC 207!!
Hello!! Thank you! This one is one where Heero's gone to university after the wars, he has one phd in biomechanics and is currently working on one in Archaeology! It's straight up just called this cause I knew how old I wanted them to be and haven't given it a name yet lol. A little snippet from chapter 1 (which is also as far as I've gotten)
Heero twirled his pen in his hand as he blinked himself back to the present, he was trying to focus on the book he’d taken out to add some more source material to this thesis. He was surprised to find that the change in the air with the start of a new term seemed to be making him feel uncharacteristically nostalgic. It had been a while seen he’d seen any of the other old pilots, usually he’d see at least one of them every few weeks or so, but he just got back from a dig in Ancient Merv a few days ago. Though it had been many years since the wars, it was still so strange to realize he missed people, something he would have been sent for retraining for even showing a tiny minuscule yen toward. He put his pen down in the spine of the book that was open on the table before him and picked up his phone he’d put down earlier. He tapped on the screen idly as he thought of who to reach out to, it’d be nice to set up a lunch or meeting with any of the other pilots — but really, there was only one person he wanted to see first. The first few names in his texts weren’t Duo, but after Elias, who’d insisted on picking him up after he landed, and his team he worked with on the dig, Duo’s name was right there with a message from a few weeks ago that said, “Have a good trip, buddy!” Heero tapped on Duo’s name and quickly typed out, “Busy?” As soon as he sent it, he felt slightly foolish. Of course he’d be busy — it was early afternoon so Heero expected Duo was, in fact, busy with work. He set his phone back on the table and picked up his pent to return to his book. Barely a page of reading later his phone buzzed on the table, and kept buzzing — not a text then. Deciding to give up pretending he was even able to focus on his studies, Heero flipped his book closed as he picked up the phone. Seeing Duo’s name on the screen had him raising his eyebrows, why wouldn’t he just text back instead?
