A conversation with Alannah Ryan and Layla Hassan reveals they believe that the Koh-I-Noor was destroyed by Berg’s bomb with the rest of Gramatica’s lab. Because there is no reason the Assassins would keep the information otherwise from them, it seems that after escaping Gramatica’s lab with the Koh-I-Noor, Elijah did not reunite with the Assassins, possibly because of the presence of Berg’s Templar reinforcements.

There is a mysterious figure in the Templer Order, known as the Black Cross. The feared boogyman of the Templars, their identity was unknown and they only somewhat answered to Inner Sanctum. Their job was to make sure Templar agents were loyal to the ideals of the Order and weren’t using it for their own goals. When not hunting traitors, they were one of the best combatants and assassin killers in the Order.

The mantle of the Black Cross was usually held by members of the Bolden family. The role had been retired since 1927 due to the presumed death and following opium addiction of Albert Bolden. In 2017, the Black Cross returned as Juhani Otso Berg

The last Templar Black Cross, prior to Juhani Otso Berg in 2017, Albert Bolden teamed up with Assassin Ignacio Cardona to take the Koh-I-Noor back from the Templar and Instrument of the First Will, Rufus Grosvenor during the Spanish Civil War. Cardona was able to use the Koh-I-Noor to convince Grosvenor it was destroyed. The two became guardians of the artifact, now trapped under a mass grave. Bolden also denounced his loyalty to the Templars because of their support of Hitler and Stalin. The two men raised many orphans together to defend the site from the Assassins and Templars they believed would someday come for the Koh-I-Noor. The two surviving orphans, in their old age, were able to fight off many Instruments and trained Assassins 2017, before their deaths at the hand of Jasdip’s team.
