Though she could have very well waited to give him his gift, Agate felt it would be much better to leave it out for him. After all, who didn't love a surprise randomly left outside their door? She left him a box, a red ribbon tied at the top. Inside was a Valentine's Day themed butterfly plushie, along with a few packs of instant spicy noodles and a note reading "Happy Valentine's Day Mistel! Can't wait to see you tonight :) ♥ Agate" A few drawings of various animals decorating the note's edges.

“How lovely,” he murmured to himself upon opening the package, finding the plush doll inside. Dinner was still in the oven and time was still on the clock, so he’d indulged himself with the opportunity to open the package she’d left for him while he’d been out. He’d leave the contents here, of course, even as he brought dinner to her— surely there was no place for instant spicy noodles on a night when he’d been actually cooking, even though they gave him a good chuckle to find there.

The plush he tossed on his bed, smiling at it thoughtfully. It was a lovely addition to his collection, he decided, before returning to the kitchen.

During their lunch period, Agate had managed to sneak out of the cafeteria, visiting her locker to retrieve a box, before peeking into Klaus' classroom. Quickly, she the box on his desk, a red ribbon adorning it. Its contents included 4x Heart Shaped Brownies, a Wolf plushie, and a note reading "Dear Mr. Linden, I hope you have a super duper awesome Valentine's Day! ♥ Agate." The note's edges are decorated with various animals, as well as some random chemistry equations.

Gifts were something that Klaus didn’t open until after school - easier to manage in his office when he couldn’t be surprised if it were something that a student had left as a practical joke. A few sour memories years back had taught him the lesson to be wary, after all.

But luckily this one included a note that revealed immediately the innocence of its giver: Agate. He grinned as he picked up the wolf doll, chuckling at it as though it had done something particularly cute by merely existing in his presence. The brownies would be harder for him to get through - but he supposed he could try, for the sake of the sweet girl that had given them. At least he knew it wouldn’t be a practical joke.

Valentimes [Agate/Mistel]

While cooking wasn’t necessarily Mistel’s favorite passtime, he considered himself a fairly decent cook— and even minded the process much less on days like today. He’d found the recipe in a magazine he’d flipped through at the grocery store, taking its advice to heart (and taking a picture of it on his phone to avoid having to purchase the magazine it’d come from) as he’d added the extra ingredients to his regular shopping list. 

When he came knocking at Agate’s door this afternoon, he had propped against his hip a covered dish — the top designed to keep the contents warm as well as obscure the dish’s contents until he could make a properly dramatic reveal of them. After all, it didn’t do to cook someone dinner and not get the chance to brag and make a big deal about it. Who did something nice without wanting recognition, after all?

He tried not to glance around too much as he waited for Agate to answer the door— and definitely tried not to notice the dead cockroach that lingered in the hallway between their two doors. Mistel sighed, his eyes fixated instead on the bit of peeling wallpaper that he continued to notice every time he waited outside this door. Maybe he’d find his appetite for the food he’d brought over once his friend actually let him in.

He knocked a second time, for good measure.

All things considered, 875G was not a bad amount of money to spend on a night out with Agate— especially to walk away with two stuffed animals. They were cute and well made, probably worth the price even. But an idea was itching in the back of Mistel’s mind as he turned the stuffed cupcake kitty over, inspecting it thoughtfully.

What if they tried to get into the Casino, instead?

The games were bound to be better (though few things could beat putting Agate up to playing the ‘Jumping Whatever It Was He Hadn’t Been Paying Attention To The Game’s Name’), relying more on skill. The sort of games Mistel liked to play.

Well, it was worth a shot, wasn’t it? ♪

Rise and Shine [Agate/Mistel]

Mistel stood outside the door to Agate’s apartment as he’d done so many days before, knocking for the second time. His first round of knocking had gone unheeded for reasons unknown, and he’d taken to leaning against the side of her doorframe as he waited.

“Agate!” he called again through the door, checking his phone for the time. The morning was inching past, and today was not a snow day— despite there having been quite the smattering of them lately. Too bad, too; the snow hadn’t even fully melted on all the sidewalks yet, and walking to school was going to be a mess. They were definitely going to be late at this rate.

Mistel might be able to make it to school on time if he left without her, but he wasn’t going to leave without her. “Come on!” he whined at the door, instead choosing to call Agate’s phone instead of knock for a third time.
