He turns as he’s tapped, having been in the middle of brewing a pot of coffee— slightly too lethargic to have noticed her approach or even her presence. He blinks between her and the mushroom for a moment in silence - before quietly accepting it.
It’s tucked into his pocket faster than he can say ‘thank you very much’.
“Thank you very much,” he adds, because it seems like the right thing to do. “You were the one who sent the other in the mail, were you not? I am… very grateful.”

Though she could have very well waited to give him his gift, Agate felt it would be much better to leave it out for him. After all, who didn't love a surprise randomly left outside their door? She left him a box, a red ribbon tied at the top. Inside was a Valentine's Day themed butterfly plushie, along with a few packs of instant spicy noodles and a note reading "Happy Valentine's Day Mistel! Can't wait to see you tonight :) ♥ Agate" A few drawings of various animals decorating the note's edges.
“How lovely,” he murmured to himself upon opening the package, finding the plush doll inside. Dinner was still in the oven and time was still on the clock, so he’d indulged himself with the opportunity to open the package she’d left for him while he’d been out. He’d leave the contents here, of course, even as he brought dinner to her— surely there was no place for instant spicy noodles on a night when he’d been actually cooking, even though they gave him a good chuckle to find there.
The plush he tossed on his bed, smiling at it thoughtfully. It was a lovely addition to his collection, he decided, before returning to the kitchen.
A box was left on his doorstep, shortly before he'd be coming home. Wrapped in neat white with pink hearts wrapping paper, inside there is a small box gift set with a red pair of socks with heart pattern and black and white matching boxers, as well as a folded purple cardigan with a faux vest style neatly tucked underneath. There is no name or attached note, just "Gill" written on top in what could almost be a familiar handwriting for how curled the G is.
He’d taken the box in with him upon finding it on the doorstep— sighing to recognize the handwriting, of course he did. Granted, it wasn’t as though he had a platform to stand on when he mentally chided Luna for still getting him a gift for Valentine’s day; the flowers he’d left for her at work saw well enough to that. But this was a package, which meant more than flowers. And that was more than Gill probably deserved to get from the pink-haired girl on this day in particular.
Ah, well. He left it on his bed while making dinner, and only opened it toward the end of the night - frowning enormously at its contents, and how risque one of them in particular happened to be. “Lovely,” he murmured to himself, tucking the boxer shorts quickly into a drawer to avoid looking at them until the guilt subsided somewhat.
