Question for academics everywhere:
In my country and my field (France, and chemistry and by extension exact and experimental sciences ("hard" sciences)), the work environment is pretty, if not very, informal.*
Is that the case in your field and/or country?
*as a master's intern, I am on a first name and informal you basis with my (permanent staff) supervisor and would not question it if they were to invite lab members to an informal gathering at their house for instance (hasn't happened to me but to several of my friends)
