hi lottie! i was wondering you have any tips on writing seminars and essays? like general tips, organization, topic exploration, anything would be helpful! you're always doing assignments so you seemed like a right person to ask! sorry to bother you and thanks! :)
oohhhhh HELL i understand why you’d maybe think i’d be able to help you in this area but lemme tell you i’m a do it the night before kind of girl!!!!! if you wanna learn from my mistakes though, you should:
attempt to take seminar notes that are actually legible
don’t write down your weird as heck passing thoughts otherwise three months later you’ll be tearing your hair out like “but what did i /mean/ ‘it’s like that one movie with the dog’?????”
in your notes you should make LOADS OF TITLES you can’t have enough titles and subtitles and you should make them BIG and HIGHLIGHT THEM because no one needs to be going through 13 A4 pages of notes on the AIDS crisis at 2am ja feel
try to always write about stuff you care about or stuff that interests you!!!! the more interested and invested you are in your own essays the better!!! if you really ADORE the book/film/theory you’re writing about you’re gonna write so much and so quickly!!! go you!!! !
pick your essay title months in advance. months. i’m serious. then you can be thinking about it for weeks and weeks and bookmark bits & bobs of info you can use before you even start planning. the worst essays are the ones where you’re like ‘shit, it’s 11pm, i better pick a question bro [closes eyes and points]’
handwrite your essay plan!!! handwrite the shit out of it!!!!! when you’ve done it, do it again, and again, until you’ve condensed all your points and it’s in the right order so it flows and shit. handwriting shit is so great because you’ll have balled up 3 pages and you’ll have the best version of your essay plan there in front of you and you can just throw that shit onto a word doc with minimal hassle and it feels soooo goooooood
have a spare bit of paper and a pen handy so when you’re like ‘i need a short break to reorder my important thoughts’ and think about opening up tumblr, INSTEAD you can just draw a picture of a sad face with a speech bubble saying ‘put me out of my misery’ and then carry the hell on. best way to avoid getting distracted by the internet. at the end of essays i have 3 pages of doodles and scribbles and decorative ‘I HATE MY LIFE’s
if possible, do your essay at least a week in advance so you’re not pulling all nighters, injecting yourself with red bull and crying
(HAHA that never works so make sure you do all the other stuff i said to make the Night Before Essay as easy as possible for yourself`)

the thing that interests me about these sentiments is these people are describing, I believe, an older white man. That man wouldn’t be accused of terrorism, therefore is not comparable.
