Yiggity y'all. I have the best friend ever.
Well I *WAS* going to ask you "What do you look like naked" but you already did that one so.... What was the first fic you ever wrote and are you now greatly embarrassed by it?
Oh my giddy god, my first fic is so baaaaad. So bad. It's from when I was in high school, it's a Legomance with an OFC because Orlando Bloom was so hot. Yuh, I went there.
And you're nuts if you think I'm not about to link that shit so you can laaaaugh at with me.
Here there be Legomance.
Ask me anything.
Rule 1: always post the rules.
Rule 2: answer the questions the person who tagged you asked and write 11 new ones.
Rule 3: tag 11 people and link them to the post.
Rule 4: actually tell them you tagged them.
(Sorry, I'm not in the mod to do this and I've already been tagged in another ask thing)

Overlong text post on David Bowie Is.
For those of you interested, (I'm looking at you, alegriavida, labyrinthbuffy and acarlini) wife and I went north of the border to see the "David Bowie Is" exhibit at the AGO. It was an adventure that involved my first stay at a bed and breakfast ("Are we staying in someone's...house?"), some excellent French food, an impromptu nap in the back of the hatchback when the rain got too heavy to see/stay on the road, and, of course so. much. Bowie.
Firsty first, I wish I hadn't poured so extensively over my David Bowie Is book before going. I bought way back when it was just a London exhibit and I was convinced I'd never see it in person and kind of obsessed over it for a while. Because of this, I wasn't much surprised by what was featured. But no matter! It was still great!
Favorite parts:
The Starman room. This was the first time I teared up. I actually did a pretty good job of keeping it together as this place was JAM PACKED and I was the only one there in a Bowie shirt. But seriously, seeing that quilted jumpsuit and the mirror effects and the video. I was a goner
Life on Mars suit. More quiet tears.
The Cobweb'n'Hands outfit. Tiny is not a word that adequately describes this man's minuteness.
The little details like the lipstick on the reed of the saxophone near the end. Love.
Speaking of lipstick, the tissues with smears of his lipstick. That was the most fangirl item in the collection. I died.
The handwritten 'Heroes' lyrics. More tears.
The big live performance projection room. I wish I had spent more time in that room, but I had been there for FIVE HOURS already and my feet hurt. I regret this.
The Polaroid of his Scary Monsters make-up. I know this is totally arbitrary, but it was the realest thing there for me. It was over exposed and not touched up or colorized. It was just someone taking a shot of his make-up. It was the most humanizing piece for me.
MOST FAVORITE: That they had Gail's outfit from Heart's Filthy Lesson. I know this isn't a Bowie outfit and I don't care. Of all the things, this was the one outfit that wasn't his, and it warms the rusty cockles of my heart that Gail was included. With her strap-on horse tail and crucifix mask. I squealed.
The thing I was most compelled to touch though (I didn't touch anything. Again, it was packed, and I'm actually kind of a wuss.) was the Thin White Duke outfit. It wasn't my favorite or anything, but for some reason I wanted to touch it.
Things that were weird:
Angie was not a part of this exhibit. For that matter, neither was Iman or his family other than his parents and his brother, Terry. It was like the exhibit started off somewhat linear and biographical, and then it started tilting on its axis. I loved it! It was very artsy! But I don't know how much people were able to learn, you know? It was all show, all career. I went in with a lot of background information, so I knew what was up, but I think the exhibit confused some people. And that was weird.
The outfits behind the scrim in the big projection room. I would have liked to have been able to see those better.
I could go on and on, but I could probably stop here. Confession time: I don't read as much as I used to because I have a problem with getting severely and unproportionately depressed when I finish books. Like, it's bad. And this experience is evoking the same emotions from me, for some reason. Even though I saw all the stuff and it was super fun, I'm really bummed out. I have no idea why.
But!! It was very fun, and there was no one I would have rather gone with than Kat. She made sure I saw and read every little thing, would push me to get closer to stuff because I'm too timid, and was patient enough to stay in an exhibit that required about one and half hours for OVER FIVE HOURS. I love her.
Oh! And the Reality outfit! (I got to see the phallic belt in person, Randi!) And the Blue Silk Heathen suit! Guh.
Okay I'm done. Bless you if you read all of this.
TL;DR Fangirl visits "David Bowie Is" with mixed, though generally positive, results.

Questions:
What is your favorite childhood memory? That would have to be mornings at my grandmother's house, my mom's mom. I would wake up early (I've always been something of an early riser.) and my grandmother, a long-time night nurse, would be awake. We'd eat corn flakes and milk with sugar sprinkled on top, to this day my favorite cereal, and drink black coffee. Yes, even as a little kid. We never really talked-- my Ma'amaw has always been somewhat of a stern woman; we'd just enjoy the morning silence. When everyone else would wake up, she'd cook that quintessential southern breakfast, fried eggs, bacon, gravy, biscuits, for the rest of the family. But we had our secret little breakfast to ourselves.
What was the last thing that made you laugh so hard you couldn’t breathe? Oh my god. Okay, so I work retail part-time as I am trying to finish up my graduate degree and the store I work at has an online survey listed on the receipt. We're supposed to tell the customers about them and let them know if they fill it out, they get entered for a chance to win a shopping spree. Now most people hear this and think, yeah right, I never win anything, so I like to tell them about winners that have actually happened near our store. I live in PA (but am in no way a native) so I tell them about the winner at the store in Harrisburg and the store in King of Prussia. Only here's the thing. I've been wondering why people always give me a funny look when I'm telling them about this and it was just yesterday after working at the store FOR A MONTH that I realize that I have been telling people about the store in "Prince of Persia" PA, instead of King of Prussia. The best laughter is when you can laugh at yourself.
If money were no object, what kind of holiday would you take? I'd take my wife to Paris. She's fluent in French (I'm so not.) and lived there for a year when she was in college. She's been dying to show me her old haunts, and her favorite foods, and basically show off her Parisian prowess to her lady-love. And frankly, I'd love to traipse around Paris on the arm of a pretty girl, trusting our entire adventure to her in blissful, foreign ignorance.
What is one of your favorite books and why? Excuse me while I go pick a favorite child.... Okay, one of my favorite recent reads is The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. It is a novel about the life of Achilles with his companion, Patroclus. The author spins a beautiful love story, fleshing out The Illiad in a way that just floored me. I recommend it to anyone. You won't regret it.
Do you have an unpopular opinion (fandom-related or otherwise)? If so, what is it? I'm a Lokane shipper, which if I cared to listen to anyone else in fandom, is apparently pretty unpopular. But I don't care, so, meh. Also, I realized after rewatching Scandal in Belgravia, that I ship Sherlock with all the ships! Johnlock! Sherlolly! Adlock! He has adorable moments with them all and I love it.
As far as otherwise, I'm of the opinion that my marriage to my wife should be as boring as everyone else's and, outside of Tumblr, that doesn't go over so well.
What is your favorite piece of art? Why?
You're probably looking at that like, "...Why?" I don't know why. Because it's fucking huge in real life and it breaks my heart. It's called "Trinity" by Adolph Gottlieb, and that's probably the thing that unnerves me the most. "Trinity." I dream about this painting.
What charitable cause moves you the most? Operation Smile.
Morning person or night owl? A strange combination of both. I can (and usually do) stay up until 3 in the morning and I will always be awake and ready to start my day at 5am.
What does a perfect day look like to you? Overcast, with the promise for rain. Or just rain. A heavy, steady downpour. Thunder.
Do you create in any way (writing, art, music, knitting, etc.)? If so, what do you produce? I write (mostly fan fic), though I've gotten a little out of the habit, I am trying my hand at digital painting (eh, we'll see) and I sew, though not clothes. It's super nerdy, but my favorite thing in the world is reupholstering furniture, couches especially. I redid this lovely Victorian settee and chaise set once, but I'll be damned if can find a picture.
What food can you eat over and over again without getting sick of it? Hamburgers! I'm a recovering vegetarian, no meat for about 9 years, until I got super stoned one night (whattup college) and ate a cheeseburger from McDonald's. I got really sick, but my goodness it was delicious. If my consistently waning metabolism would allow, I'd eat one every day.

If I could impose upon your good nature a bit, please post the image of David Bowie that you feel is most saintly. I need some inspiration. Help me Mer Kanobi, you're my only hope.
Literally saintly:
Less literally saintly (mind the wolves):
For a bit of face study (prepare your body.):
And because I'm a snarky asshole:
