scar kiss - you know who.
Riles remembered a time when neither of them had visible scars beyond what a childhood growing up in the wooded area of Gridania could bring. Now, they both wore twisted murals upon their bodies that told the story of everything that had happened since the night he left years ago.
Sometimes, the bard still had to pinch herself to remember that she wasn't dreaming. He had found her again, and he had stayed.
There had always been a closeness between the two of them. Sam had once joked that their roughened edges fit perfectly together - for better or worse. Maybe Sam had been right. He was usually right. Everytime.
What would he think about where they were now? Who they had become?
Riles looked at the stone marker meant to honor Sam's memory. She never knew if Seb visited, but it had been awhile since she had been there.
"A lot's happened. I - well, he found me. Save me from my mouth getting the better of me. You would have laughed....I got accused of cheating at cards." She sniffled, smile on her face. "I miss you. He misses you. He has changed, but he...he is still himself. He still smiles...those rare, proper smiles. You should see his hair. It's longer, but it suits him."
Riles placed a small crystal atop the marker - something lasting, because she refused to bring more death near Sam. Flowers would eventually die, no matter how beautiful. "If one day, you see him...make sure he comes back to the light. I can't go where he goes, but I will. If I have to."
She stood, leaning over to place a soft kiss on the stone marker. Not all scars were marks upon her body. Sam's death had left a mark upon her heart.
It was when she turned around that she realized Seb had been standing there. She didn't know how long, or how much he had heard of her ramblings, but she saw the look in his eyes. Riles stayed quiet, walking over to him, and placing a kiss over his heart. ( @acarnivalofrust )
